Default Interview Prep

Aloha Guys and Gals,

I thought I'd start a new thread for those of us who have or have had an interview coming up and try to get some more information on the experience.

Personally, I've been using RST for the cog prep and a little bit for HR panel type of questions. For some reason it seems as if information of the interview experience for HAL is a little scarce. I know there is a panel, a cog, a "sim" (which seems to be more a CRM than anything) and a shrink.

If anyone has specifics in terms of questions they ask or what the sim consists of I, as I'm sure a lot of others in line, would be appreciative!

Mahalo and Good Luck!!

Froggy,

We have worked with many HAL candidates over the years and know the process inside and out. Not suggesting you have to sign up and work with us, but do not hesitate to reach out if you need some info or want to chat. We are happy to help if needed.

RST is Ready Set Takeoff. Its a test prep site that Im using mainly because it has a Cog trainer that most of the FedEx and Delta guys use to prepare.
The biggest thing that Im not sure how to prepare for is the sim eval...

MS flightsim....

Used to be vegas T/O 25's turn out, level off etc... hold at BLD

Shoot an ILS

Situational awareness, procedures (holding speeds, announce entering hold etc)

Best thing for me was knowing where BLD was compared to Vegas... And also having an idea of the published hold, turns, etc.. when you get in there if things seem familiar, you're most like doing it correctly...

This was over 5 years ago, find out where they set up the flight, know the area VOR's etc

Thanks! What type of A/C is it set up for?

Also unrelated question: The itinerary for the interview only mentions to bring an updated resume. Do they also want to see a logbook?

Remeber this is all old info. But I do belive the "sim" is still the same.. maybe a DC9... but think of it more as a piper cherokee looking sim...it's really a yoke and throttle quadrant.. something out of an pt 61 flight school in the 1990's.

You'll be in a office type room with a monitor and a couple of office chairs, along with the throttle setup.

I'd bring logbooks, but really I remember not needing them until I basically had the job as long as the pysch eval went ok. Used to be 3 phases, not sure how they do it now. But as far as I am always concerned, why take the chance.

Tip:

When it comes to logbooks.. tab the checkride pages. I.E: private commercial instrument etc. And maybe have spreadsheet available to show time in each a/c of you have multiple types.

Ive done this for every interview/job, and have had more than one interviewer say thanks for doing that. Especially if you bring in multiple logbooks. I had 4

No logbooks needed at interview. Not evaluated until secondary testing.
