Seems like the application window opens up around once or twice a year. Heard that the window will be opening up October 24 to Nov 5 this year. Still hoping to become that full time surfer with a part-time pilot job. 🤞

Default Vacation

How is the vacation system at Hawaiian? How many hours do you get per week used? Currently I use one week (30 hrs), and only have to work 2 other 4 days on a vacation month. Wondering how it works over there?

Thanks.

Ours is not that good. Hopefully with the next contract.....

Each day used is worth 3 hours. Anything more than 2-3 days used in a month starts to be affected by proration.

Min line is 75 hours and our average daily credit is roughly 4-5 hrs per day. If you use 7 days of vacation, you'd still be on the hook for 54hrs to build a line. Divide that by say 11 hrs for a two day trip and you're left with 5 two day trips... So still working roughly 10 days... That's if you bid min line!!It's even worse if you want more credit...

If you're junior only holding 3 day west coast, it gets even worse....

Heard a class just started earlier this week. Anyone know how many were in the class and fleet breakdown?

Is there any soft time pay at Hawaiian or can you expect to make the monthly guarantee? The 717 FO rates seem low for living on the islands.

You will probably be awarded 80-85 a month plus whatever you are willing to fly more. Expect 12-13 days off a month. No per diem.

You get per diem, only for your TAFB. So ~8 hours per work day. Beer money.

Does anyone know what happened to the HAL plane Sunday night at LAX? I'd say a little past midnight (technically Monday morning), looked like 321NEO, heard something about the jack/tow bar and pin were destroyed and the aircraft was disabled. A Delta 757 was stuck behind them. We were all put in a conga line and taxiied B5 to 25R, back taxi on runway, and exit at Golf to get around the disabled Hawaiian.

Just curious if it was a towing incident or if something happened to them after landing and they were stuck/disabled?
