Default OK, got it.

To answer your question, "do I see the most recently updated threads", I do see recently updated threads below the subcategories. But I'm not sure what you mean by asking that. Will I only see those below the subcategories if someone decides to post there (not in one of the subcategories).

For B, the answer is no. I don't mind scrolling at all. The crux of the issue the way I see it is having to take the extra step of going in and out of each subcategory to see what is happening at all the airlines.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that the people who do not like the subcategories are the ones who want to see what is going on at all the airlines.
Thank you - got it, you want to see what happens to the threads that are getting updated IN the subforums as well.

Thank you. I'm having meetings internally to see how we can configure this. More soon.

Other days, when I have time to spend, I go through all the RJ subforums and the general uncategoried group. One thing that I am doing to make life easier when I am pretty well caught up is to look at the day/time of the last post. Some airlines may go 2 or 3 days without a post, and then a rash of postings. Others seem to get a dozen every day.

Regarding the perception of fewer postings, you can run metrics. My guess is breaking them into subforums gives an impression of fewer postings, without really much of a change. After all, you look at a subforums with just a couple of unread threads vs. a general uncategoried group with 20 unread threads and it is easy to get the feeling you are looking at fewer posts.

I have seen a diminishing of the number of postings on American, without any changes to it as a subforums. I attribute this to the Seniority List Integration being a done deal, flow and OTS hiring starting in earnest (after all the Letter T furloughs got called back), and AAG getting pay matching Delta and United. Fewer controversies, fewer posts. They need to drag a passenger off the plane to stir more posts. NOT. (I don't wish that on anyone!)
OK, thank you for the feedback and the insights into the industry trends! I see that we have 2 constituents, who pretty much want to see the same thing, but sorted in a different way. More soon. N

Hey All, I confirm that we have found a solution. We will be finalizing everything by the end of May.

We have a release scheduled on Monday 5/15, we will be waiting for the changes to be stabilized and we will then use pre-fixes to "categorize" the threads by Airline, rather than using the current setting which "moves" the threads into the Airline subforum.

It is a lighter categorization option, which labels the threads rather than moving the threads into a specific subforum. As such, we will be replacing the Airline subforums w/ links to the category section of the Airline.

Display:
More information on this will follow, but the front end look-and-feel would look more or less the same: the top part of the Regional section will display the list of the Airlines sorted A-Z.
However, the bottom part will display all the most recently updated threads (including the ones that are categorized by Airline).

Create a new thread:
When creating a new thread, users will be prompted to "categorize" the thread, by selecting a prefix from a drop down menu.

Hope this works, let me know whether this is clear to all, and if you have questions.

Thanks All for the feedback and the support. More soon.

Nick

Default In the meantime... Today's Posts

I don't have much to recommend to the users who are looking for all the most updated threads.... expect for: check the "Today's Posts" section.

You won't be able to see the most recently updated posts for a specific main thread (like: "Regional"), but you can try to sort that out by checking on the column "Forum".

Today's Posts is on the main nav bar on Desktop and Tablet, and on the Hamburger Menu on Mobile. See below.

Hope this helps... N

Default New regional sub-forums

So subforms are going away with Tapatalk? It's going to be a pain in ass to follow certain airlines.

Not sure how Tapatalk is rendering the page, I'll test it out. That being said, pre-fixes are becoming main stream, I'll reach out to them and let you know what they say.

The project is not over yet - we will be adding a drop down menu to browse through the different airline companies. As is on:
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/p...classifieds-9/

The Notices section.

I website format, it's great when I am on web browser. But when I on mobile devices Tapatalk has been the way to go. Maybe I am in the minority of users who use Tapatalk browse the message boards.

Hold tight. I am looking into that, I just registered to tapatalk and i have submitted a request to their admin, I'll be reviewing what the options are. Thanks for sharing your experience w/ me.

Question: can I ask you why you use tapatalk on mobile, instead of browsing airlinepilotforums.com directly? Thank you.

Simple, notifications when ever I receive a private message. That function still remains with Tapatalk so that's not a issue, but to answer your question. It's easier to respond in a quicker manner once I get a notification vs on the website. Without Tapatalk, I probably would have to set notifications to a email then wait for my device to sync my email, then check my email then go to the website to respond. Tapatalk has simplified that experience for me by just notifying me right directly. I am sure Tapatalk heavy users would feel the same.

The other reason is the ease of following certain sub forums, topics I want to follow. Prior to sub forums I was following the entire regional or in some cases individual mega threads. This can get cumbersome when airlines have multiple threads. At the same time, it can be cumbersome to find information and multiple topics in a mega thread.

Sub forums simplified the ability to follow a entire airline vs following multiple threads or a mega thread for that matter via Tapatalk.

Give you a good example I posted a screen shot of the sub groups that i am interested to keep further tabs on. If I was to click Air Wisconsin, I could see all the topics within the Air Wisconsin sub-forum. Now, there are 4 topics that are floating somewhere in the regional sub forums which now I have to follow. This will probably lead back to the creation of mega-threads which in my opinion is a step backwards.

I am probably minority user of Tapatalk however I am a heavy user of it. I am glad that ACP supports the use of it. Hopefully that answers your question.
