Regional Hiring... Whats happening?

ahh, you right about that - but alot of 135 ops that I've come by won't let a sic with less than 1200 hrs due to insurance - and I can see how that would be when you running Lears, Challengers and so fourth..... getting down to Aztecs and Barrons, most of those companies don't mind.... but some still do. I look at the Ashley Furniture SIC reqs Vs. the Kenmore Air Req's for SIC....
so you have a point RedGuy but I'd rather get on with someone like Ashley Furniture Fleet or one of those bigger guys than some piston pounders personally

Man, for a guy in my position, that would be a sweet way to start out - were you happy with your decision to do that or would you have taken a different route? What is the company you work for? and you are right about it being tougher for somone to jump into hard IFR with an HP twin - bemidji airlines is a cargo 121 single pilot op. flying Queen Airs/Beech 99's all over the MN region and they all have over 1200 Min, but came in with experience like what you are doing - with 2 man crew
I'll finish by saying that I'd rather have that 2 man crew with better experience like you say then CFI and gain the hrs. Thanks for the good outlook on that

No, I don't regret going the route that I did at all it has been absolutely the best experience I think I could have gotten. It's true all weather flying at all times of the day/ night and all seasons. However when I stated here you couldn't get on at a regional without a couple thousand hours and a few hundred hours of multi time. I would say that career wise you'll be better off to get on with a regional if you can, I'm actually going back wards now looking at possibly going to a regional for the 121 and FMS time. But for real world experience you can't beat flying a 30 year old unpressurized turbo prop with no auto pilot in all weather. I've also got to go to alot of remote airports that once I get out of on demand I'll probably never go to again. Check out IFL, USA Jet, Ameristar, Kalitta, Special Systems or Royal Air.

I know Royal Air has flown into my home airport in KONA - the pilot are some of the most laid back guys ever - they had a sweet pure turbojet Lear 25 and its the loudest dang thing you have ever heard..... love it
I'll check them out for sure! Thanks again.
- Go Twins!
