Time for that BUMP~!

Here is a link to an INTERNAL announcement:
USAJOBS - Search Jobs

Also - take a look in the 'Hiring News' forum for another link to a similar job with reduced minimums - VFE program.
http://www.airlinepilotforums.com/hi...e-program.html

Finally - for some additional details about the job, a forum member just sent me this link to an AOPA video that features Flight Check and some of the newest developments. I found it to be the most informative article/video that I have seen yet on the details of the job (start the video at about the 16:00-22:00 mark. I think the link will take you directly to that point of the presentation). I hope that it will answer some questions that others may have which I have been unable to accurately convey.

BUMP

I believe I posted the video made from this report some time ago - but here is the article that came out of the report which is published in the Dec 2012 AOPA Magazine.

Proficiency: Safeguarding the skies - AOPA

If I didn't share the recent 'good news' regarding the hiring - I apologize.
A recent conversation with the big boss of FIS revealed that Flight Inspection Services (FIS new name of the former AVN) will not be held under the same 3-for-1 hiring provisions as many other parts of the FAA (and other gov't agencies) required for the manning drawdown. There are numerous retirements projected in the near future and FIS manning should not be diminishing very much at all as the big boss as passed to leadership that the 'Operations' side of FIS is already minimally manned.

In another thread though I mentioned the recent hiring for the Visual Flight Edit program (VFE).
http://www.airlinepilotforums.com/hi...e-program.html
It is NOT known if that program will continue to progress, or at least be curtailed, in the new fiscal environment. I did hear yesterday though that is was expected to use the VFE program as posible flow-through type of arraignment for a full ASIP position based on needs.

I wonder how much this position pays.

That information is covered in detailed in this thread and a few others - including 8 posts back from your post (Post #178 to be exact).
Then 'Google' 2013 GS payscales and you'll find the base pay amounts, apply the locality rates, and there are a few other bumps and you'll have a very good idea.

FlightCheck

Does anyone have some hiring info on them? This seems like a better rout then maybe the 121. What time of flying they do per week. Per month?

More details. If you are talking about the FAA, you best have a veteran's preference.

If you are talking about FAA Flight Check - then use the 'Search' function and type in ASIP. You'll get 5 different threads with a lot of information.
This particular thread is a wealth of information:

GF is right though - right now you will need to come from within the gov't or have 10 pts pref is trying to get on from the outside. It is a tough hiring environment right now.

I spent the better part of the past decade trying to get on with them. Spoke with current Flight Check pilots, with the head of my regional office, even the main guy in OKC. Applied to every opening at every location as it came up.

Every time I received a note saying due to my lack of total points, my application package was not even referred to the people who evaluate prospective candidates. My background is civilian/airline flying only.

I did speak with one current Flight Check guy who was all airline as well but got furloughed and spent a brief period of time working for the TSA, which apparently was enough to get his foot in the Federal door so that might be an option.

USMC - you've been really great sharing information about this position and doing all you can to get guys on. I really appreciate it. Would have loved to have spent the rest of my career flying with you guys.
