It’s truly amazing how pilots universally complain and moan. That recruiter has no idea what is going on. He is probably told to say crap like that. It’s the only way they can recruit. Management said they weren’t able to hire as many pilots in 2018 as they planned. From what management is telling the pilots there are a limited number of upgrades and only hiring to cover attrition. Retaining is their problem. Pay and benefits at half of other LCC’s and majors will eat them alive. The disconnect on the pulse of the industry is scary. Just fill in the blanks for the airline name. The quoted came from a Sun country thread. https://www.airlinepilotforums.com/2722877-post6.html |
I looked at the UPS, FedEx, Delta, United, and American threads. They weren’t saying that... Go ahead use Sunny for your example of everybody though.

Looking for real information.
What is amount of hours expected each month one would fly on the 747 in the first year after training? How long to hold Mia or HSV? |

HSV in about a year, MIA little longer although about 5-6 months ago they moved 20+ FO’s to MIA which meant also junior FO’s made it there. |
Thanks TiredSoul!

There is no guarantee which fleet type you'd get, though. Assuming you are asking about flight hours for pay purposes, on months WITHOUT training, sick, or vacation, you could average anywhere from 70 - 75 hours. Months WITH training, sick, or vacation you would be closer to the first year min guarantee of 50 hours. Actual time flying the plane would be about 25% of that due to Atlas using four person crews on most 747 flights. Read up on the downsides of the job at Atlas. If you are qualified to fly at Atlas, you would be qualified to get hired at OMNI or Kalitta, both of which have far, far better pay and working conditions. |

That's just plain whining and we simply must buck up and take our punches silently like the good soldiers we should be. And if other airlines lie to prospective pilots in order to get them to come to work, then it is just fine and dandy if Atlas does the same. After all, airlines and their recruiting departments are entitled to their own set of "alternate facts" when it comes to pilots trying to make critical career decisions. And who are we to question those "alternate facts" even when they are proven to be untrue? |
