Yet people, for the most part, were getting hired near or above the minimums. Eagle if you look, people are getting hired around 1200-1500TT 100-200ME. These are clearly not those furloughed street guys.
I wonder what caused that, cause I am sure there are still quite a few furloughed pilots on the street. Do they choose to not apply to these regionals or are the regionals choosing to not hire them and instead go with the lower time pilots (lower as in 1000-2000, not 5000-20,000).

When hiring started, people made it out to be the boogey man "Thousands of pilot's on the street with millions of PIC Octo-engine scram jet time"

So there are still plenty of highly qualified candidates out of work.

In my recent class at ASA, we were the first class of the street in about 2 1/2 years. We only had 3 XJet folks in our class of 24. About half of us had over 2000 hours. There were about 5 furloghees from other airlines. Surpirsingly, I think only one of them had in excess of 2000 hours, and I think 2 of them had less than 1500! The higher time guys all had multiple interviews and job offers (Eagle, Pinnacle, GoJet, Commute Air, Colgan). The highest time guy had around 6000 hours and was a former Trans States Captain who had gone Corporate for awhile. Over half of the class had no former airline experience, and half of the folks with no former airline experience only had CFI experience. All but 1 had an internal rec.
That being said, the single most important thing you can do, after you have close to the minimums, is network and find someone to walk your resume in! Otherwise, keep doing what you are doing and you will eventually get a call from someone since, from what I have heard (only rumors, of course) the hiring pool will drain quickly over the next year.

One regional that seeks "refugees" would have to be Compass. Have your friend apply. I didnt get hired, but got an interview a week after applying with no internals. I wasn't current either. Good Luck!!

Thank you to all the people out there who actually answered the question without any rude or unnecessary input. I appreciate the responses and information you gave to my question and will do the same for anyone who asks.
Of course the rude Den post or the jump to conclusions post by Luv2rotate are not helpful in any way and not that it really matters, but I am not "a spoon fed" person as you say. Hopefully neither of you have a simple question to ask of anyone in the future as I personally will not respond to anything more you post.
