UA Hiring Minimums?

UA Hiring Minimums?
Does anyone have the inside info on what UA's hiring minimums are going to be when they starting hiring? When they were hiring the last time in 2001, it was something like 1500TT, but I don't remember the exact breakdown of the time though.

UAL Mins
I'm a F/A with a UAL, I have my pvt inst. license and still buidling time for the others......I asked and was told the following:
1500 TT
1000 PIC Turbojet (Combo Mil/Civilan ok)
ATP Certified
Passport (right to work in USA)
So looks like it's going to be a while before I can transfer over
Best of luck to those of you who do apply

Seems like these are SWA minimums. UAL, when I was hired, did not have a PIC turbojet minimum. Their minimum flight time was 350 hours. Grant you alot of people did not get hired with that, unless it was the late 80's.
My how things have changed.

Yeah I know cause by Dec I will be done with my ratings and be at approx 400TT and 200ME, and was planning on transferring from F/A to F/O (as I have 10yrs with the company). Prior to 2001 they did have low mins around 350-ish, but mainly for company transfers. Maybe this will change when they don't get enough "qualified" applicants to apply.
I think it is going to be really hard for a current cpt to give up his/her 55+ dollar per hr to goto reserve at 35. Year two as an f/o on all planes is only 55/hr....unless he/she want's to be based in IAD/SFO/LAX/ORD.....as those are the only bases new hires are going.......

Yeah, I think you were misinformed about the 1000 PIC Turbine. UA has never had that steep of requirement. I used to work there for six years as a CSR and have lots of connections and nobody knows anything yet. I was fishing here to see if anyone else did. As far as I know they have not decided on hiring minimums yet. Who told you this info? My buddy that was involved in hiring last time has no info yet. They have not even finished the application yet. The last time UA was hiring in 2001, they were requiring ATP minimums, which was a change from the 350hr. minimum that had been in affect for many many year. Sorry, with 400TT, you will not get hired even with the guaranteed interview as an employee. When I was there, employees were getting hired in the 800-1000TT range and that is a big reason why they changed the minimums because there was so much movement in the ranks at that time, so these people moved up fast and could not be type rated easily when necessary. So, UA went to the ATP mins about the last 1.5 years of hiring. My guess is it will be the same now. I would be completely astonished if there was a 1000 PIC Turbine requirement. I had hoped to be a pilot when I was working there before and because of events in the industry and at UA, it did not happen. When I left there was 2000 guys on furlough and I had an offer to be a full time pilot flying a nice jet. Now its time to come back and I am in a much better position now. Good luck.

Probably any employee in good standing. But don't worry there are probably easier ways to get a UAL interview than working there.
I heard the requirements will include 1000 turbine (not PIC). This was from the hiring people by way of a friend who is a legacy with good inside connections.
Personally I'm not sure I even want to consider UAL right now. My crystal ball is MEL'ed.

1000 Turbine(Not PIC), that makes much more sense. Yes, if you are an employee of UA you can interview for any position that is open and you are qualified. Some people use this loophole to become a pilot.

Hi!
UAL will be shocked after a couple of weeks to see the experience level of their applicants.
There's NO WAY that a 1000 PIC requirement, or an ATP requirement will stick-they might try it at first, but when their hiring requirements gear up, they won't get enough apps and bodies at those numbers.
