Unhappy Resume Help!

Hello I am new to the site (long time listner, first time caller). I am currently working on my CFI and thinking ahead of time. When I meet minimums for an FO job what is the proper way to fill out my resume? Should I only list jobs related to aviation? Im only 24 so I have only had a few odd jobs as a teen. I know many airline jobs require a 10 year backround check. When I was 20 I got fired from Walgreens due to attendance. I was going to school at the same time and couldnt keep up with it. Would that be a big deal?

Hey GDLBEN:
Best rule of thumb is to ALWAYS be honest.. Airlines today hire just as much on personality as they do on experience.. They will know your time and background when you walk in for the interview; what is unknown is you.. Yes the ten year check will always exist, and you will simply have to say 10 years ago, I was in 7th grade.. Regarding your Walgreens issue, turn it around. Yes I was "let go" but it was because I was studying in college refused to comprimise my grades for a part time job.. If you tackle any negitives head- on and honestly, they tend to go by the way-side assuming they are minor, and this is.. If you say nothing, and they surface later, the company will wonder what else you have "omitted"... One of the major fauxs that pilots commit is to ONLY talk about flying backgrounds, and not give any insight into themselves..

Hope it helps, and if you have specific questions, PM me.. I have been in recruitment, and have also taught interview techniques for pilots leaving the military.. I am happy to help..

(PS I never taught speeling and grammar)

Cheers,
EKBC
