But what about the 26 pilots displaced from SEA...I assume they'll be moving into some of those slots? Another bid is expected in June to provide for 2014 2nd quarter crew requirements, which suggests that they'll be looking for new hires later this year.

bad news guys. the way im reading this new vacancy bid, we are done hiring for the year. we have 627 pilots on property, and that'll be it. that includes the pilots who just started class. the bid information packet did indicate a bid vacancy in mid-june, which should indicate the hiring need for 2014.

this bid is very suspicious. it is meant for the closure of the seattle domicile in december 2013. in my opinion, it was totally unnecessary to put this bid out now, when it couldve been combined with the june bid vacancy. so although this bid says no more hiring this year, the june bid will probably say otherwise.

well, and that's why I said "ASS"ume.... so those 11 slots are not inclusive of the 26 displacements then? hmm.... Very confusing... Also add to this the "fact" that we're giving back 4 767's as we take 5 A330s, right? or is this not even factored in yet?

I know the MEC is still fighting to keep SEA open but it seems the company has made up their mind irrespective.

Looked at the vacancy for like 2 hrs today... The thing is always confusing!!!

Way I read it is 10 CA 330 slots, and a couple FO 767 slots...

Even with some retirements etc, I'm not sure where they are going to fit 26+/- SEA guys in.... without some displacements....

That being said, the June vacancy is going to show some more 330 slots I suppose for 2014???

IMO the Union was pushing for the vacancy givin the SEA stuff, so the company put one out...With the full expectation to just send another one out in June (which hopefully will be the "real" deal and show what's on the horizon for next year????

For everyone still waiting on HA... keep in mind that after 2014/15 we start ramping up for the NEO's.. I'm hoping that the floodgates open sometime in 2016 (16 NEO's over a couple year period and the start of the 6 350's)

Count up all the "vacancy" slots (blue lines), there are 26 of them spread between the fleets. Notice that there are 26 pilots in SEA being displaced. Bid is neutral (no hiring), just a shuffling of seats.

The good news on this bid is only a reduction of 1 76 fo in HNL. Rumors previously had been a much higher reduction in 767 flying out of HNL. Of course there is the SEA loss, but if you look at the numbers, the loss is small. There are 4 76's scheduled to go away, but the total system loss is is 17 slots and that will change shortly in the future. I think there will be more retirements than predicted, the guys with defined benefits would be wise to leave soon if they have the time in. JJ retires at the end of April and will pull in 12.6k a month with no dues, state tax, social security or medicare to pay out. The other guys will see this and think about going out also.
