negative. when i had the conversation with the man in charge of the bids nearly 3 weeks ago, he said that the vacancy bid was ready to be published. he reiterated that the marketing department was changing their minds constantly regarding schedules/routes/frequencies. im just hoping the reason for the delay is good news for the pilot group.

I heard a rumor from a good source at HA, that the company is actively looking for A320's to lease and bring on property early while we wait for the A321neo's to be built. That would surely spur some growth.

Any idea what for? I was under the impression the A321s were for West Coast flying and maybe 1 or 2 dense inter-island markets. But A320s aren't ETOPS...

But I've been thinking that it stinks that places like Alaska have more flights from the West Coast than we do and there is nothing we can do about competing with them until the NEO arrives in 3 more years..
And how it would be nice to get something on lease a bit sooner to compete with that until the NEO's arrive. An additional 3 years is a long time to lose West Coast market share.
Not sure how possible it would all be. I don't have the big marketing/ monetary/decision making picture. Just a pilot who doesn't like seeing AS heading to HNL,OGG,KOA, LIH from the next gate over.
In other news, several analyst still predict better financials for HA going forward as we hedge against the supressed YEN, available seats to the West Coast, and the growing pains of 20+% expansion for the last 3 years. 2QT2013 financials released June 23rd.

Who you know is a big part is lowering the exp requirements, but from the looks of it, you've got that covered VERY nicely...
So the short answer is.. I'm not sure what would be holding you back, other than there are only so many jobs for so many applicants..
The most senior pilot check airman (and APD) who I just finished IOE with has a son trying to get hired as well, and he's got about the same resume as you. What he told me is HAL tries to hire the gamut so they can get the experience they need for a rapidly expanding global airline, while at the same time trying as much as possible to keep it in the family and help out those with family and friends on the Islands wanting to get hired on.. it's a balance he said.
