Hawaiian is just an intriguing process! Where everyone is really in the dark as to who or what it takes to pass certain parts of the interview....

In my case, I though I nailed Phase I... (Panel interview went well IMO, I was having a good day when it came to the sim eval.)

But after Phase II....Math, English, HR... I was resigned to chaulking it up to an experience....And I'm even somewhat good at Math... definitely didn't have a good feeling after Phase II.

Somehow my name got called, and so far it's been great... I feel like I have been doing a good job for Hawaiian and they have not given me any issues yet either... Keeping fingers crossed...

Hmmm, they decided to hire this bids numbers all at once.... didn't see that coming... Hopefully it leaves room for re-adjusting the hiring (in a positive way) going into next year...

and hopefully they wont do the usual SSN seniority nightmare where the 2000 hour guy in the right seat of a turboprop gets the A330, and the 50 year old guy with 10 types and world wide experience goes interisland..

I don't know why they don't just hold classes separately by type, rather than do it all at once.. I've had more than one LCA tell me this system is leading to people who are less than ready going right into WW operations.

I say that tongue and cheek cuz to Hawaiian it means absolutely nothing.

So using the SSN method for seniority seems only fair.

Just 1 and it was from no one in any high position. Just an FO with less than a year under his belt......

I was already living out here, and did have several jet types, prior 121, and maybe 6000 in jets etc... Nothing special, not a newbie but by no means a worldly traveler....

I really think it came down to the day 1... I did have the panel laughing, and by the end of the sim eval. Me and the "FO" were cracking a couple jokes during the down time between approaches....

I'm pretty well rounded outside of work. And have just the right amount of humility, humbleness, and social skills that probably made up for the Phase II portion... IMO

I went through the whole phase 1/phase 2 five times in the last 5 years and finally got hired last year. I don't know what got me hired, but I remember telling them that I would be back again the following year if they didn't hire me.

As was my case. It's generally not who recommends you that gets you hired (there are exceptions). They simply open the door, as it's nearly impossible to get your resume pulled without an internal due to the sheer number of apps they get for the limited openings.

Just put your best foot forward, be honest, be yourself and that's the best you can do.

From Phase 1 to class, It took me less than a month on my 1st interview, I can't complain. And no, I didn't live out there, never have, and currently don't.

Anyway, here's to hoping the 100/year promise they gave us when I went through last year manifests itself next year and you all get the call.

Pretty much matches what happened to me during my interview. I did not have any letters and have long thought that this is why I did not get called back for Phase 3. Maybe one letter would have put me over that hump.

I asked earlier on this thread and did not get any replies, so I'll try again. Anyone have any idea how many of us that completed Phase I and II and are still in that "under consideration" bucket? ie, did not get the "thanks but no thanks" email. 40 or 50? 80 or 100? Any idea?

Anything we could do to increase our chances for a Phase III invite? I know several that have since completed A-320 type ratings. With all the airbuses on order, I would think that this would help us out. Anyway to update our files?
