Currently, ANC is the most junior base, followed by LAX, PDX and SEA. I am not sure it's going to stay that way. Subsequent bids are going to continue to reduce ANC and possibly LAX. I could see SEA and possibly PDX open up in the next year for new-hires, but that is just my opinion. In the past, they definitely have a preference for hiring pilots with roots on the west coast and Alaska. Good luck!

How serious is Alaska about the 4-year degree? Would a silver bullet plus documentation that you'll complete a degree in less than a year be of any value? Can people give a silver bullet if the applicant doesn't meet the minimums in that regard? Thanks for any info you can provide!

4 year is a must. Way too many candidates with one to justify not having it.

I still have a memo from the CP at the time specifically stating my lack of a degree as a reason not to grant an interview.

Got the degree, eventually got the interview.

Alaska has pilots on furlough. Does anyone know if they have a hiring pool and if it needs to be replenished?

No pool currently, but rumored hiring into pool to begin as early as this Fall.

The last of our furloughed pilots should return in DEC/JAN.

I talked to them at the OBAP job fair this week. They seemed like a cool group. Sounds like interview will kick in late fall.

Thumbs up Chat with CP today

Interviews to begin as soon as next month.

Estimated hiring numbers upped from 200 to 370 through 2014

Next bid due out Friday, bigger then expected, with a chance for newhire position vacancies.

A suggestion of 787's for Asia was enthusiastically received, but not in the tea leaves for the next several years
