Sweet Jesus! I made almost 50K/year at XJT as a 5-6 year FO! Not sure if its the soft time or the 35-day bids, but WHAT a difference work rules make! I might have worked slightly harder than you (credit at least 85hrs/mo with 15 days off average) but then again...those were 30/31 day bid periods...called months. Other than the location, what's the attraction of Horizon again?

With the extra three bases QX schedules have almost no soft time; we have good riggs but we essentially get paid block. We also have very few legs that are worth more than 1.5 hrs. This translates into low time off/ low credit schedules. We probably average 15 days off system wide but that's over 5 weeks.... If you are on reserve you get 13 days off and if you commute you will be home one night a week. I've been here 5 years and I'm seriously considering leaving for skywest if I can't get a non-regional job in the next six months.

So much of what kills our pay here is the type of flying we do. I flew a 17hr 4 day trip recently with 21 legs. Only 2 legs were over 1 hour(GEG turn). Also many of our trips now start PM and end AM. Somewhere during the trip you get the "natural" overnight. The SEA base usually gets the worst of it.

We're starting to see more of that at XJT with the United flying (what a bunch of garbage flights! Six legs for 5 hours of pay!?). During my last 6-legger, I was contemplating how nice a $50/landing bonus would be in the next contract

So has anybody heard from Horizon since the last application window passed? Any idea on how many pilots they are looking for?

The last 3 new hire classes were groups of 6. I would imagine they are looking for 6 again, however there is nothing posted on the training plan so far. I heard recently the class date got pushed back until March so you may not hear anything until after the holidays.

Ok, thanks for the info! Was a bit disappointed I haven't heard from them, but it sounds like no news is good news at the moment.

Keep your chin up. Get your TT and multi up. 1500 is fast approaching so do whatever you can to get ahead of that wave. Good luck.

Thank you, so easy to be discouraged when you get a bunch of these no thanks or you are not qualified yet responses. The reality is that I do need more experience. So chin up it is!!
