I've heard that Skywest tells people that if they do well, anyone interviewing can have the job.

Unless you want practice, it can be wondered if interviewing at Republic is a waste of time.
If yur qualified, theyll hire you-they dont have much choice. I interviewed in 2012 and 12 of 18 were offered the job. Maybe it was a more experienced interview class back then-who knows. The ONLY reason to come to RAH is if you live in one of their bases. The guys running the company dislike the pilot group-fyi.

Before anyone gets their feathers ruffled this post is sarcastic.
ATP is the flight training equivalent to what management is to the pilot force at RAH. ATP has no shame, and I feel sorry for the newly minted prospects that paid the $65k in order to land the shiny jet job at RAH. This thing won't last long. Somebody, somewhere, will do something about it, it's just a matter of time.

Its been going on for as long as I've been a pilot. As long as there is a steady stream of people coming for interviews, nothing will change.

Supply and demand.

No, not the case. Everyone I interviewed with was qualified.

Most didnt get the offer. Right now they are giving offers to less than 20% of qualified applicants. You don't get to interview unless you're qualified.

For the love of god, we need to quit telling people that any regional is having trouble getting applicants. The system is clogged with pilots fighting, kicking and screaming to get into the door.

The what so called "Pilot Shortage" is a total B.S. I interviewed with RAH I meet all ATP min. I did pretty well in Tech & Sim as well. I wasn't offered the job. I guess if there is a shortage they would be more desperate.

Precisely. I personally know of a lot of people who were surprised to not have gotten the offer.

I hate to say this but the word im gettin from hr is that although many are qualified on paper, they are not impressing in the interview overall. I do know that once in a while they miss a good candidate, but if you think they dont need good candidates, you're the one who's wrong. The AA 170s gettin here in a month-3 per and if they think you'll make it thru training, theyre gonna hire you.
Some of you guys may be overqualified- theyre afraid you'll leave after 6 months for UAL/DAL/JB/AA. Good luck guys.

I have an ATP... just a little bit more.

they contacted me via e mail. I can not reach them by phone, always busy. do you think they will try to send me an email a second time.?

they probably tossed my resume away. they don't seem interested.

Well I do not dispute HR says this, but it means only one thing- they do not want pilots who are too expensive (by their own definition) to train. Not that there is any shortage of pilots at all. They want to skim the cream off the milk, not have to pay 5 cents for extra sims or training. Not that there is any shortage of pilots, period. There is a shortage of super-cheap pilots, that's all. I have seen working pilots being turned away, picking one guy out of 7 during this "staffing crisis", and my observations simply do not square with all these wishful claims there is a pilot shortage.
