Hiring in 2014?

A monthly hiring bulletin from FAPA said "hiring in 2014 likely" ... I would guess they confirmed this inside the company but one never knows.

Thoughts?

I believe he is referring to the FAPA that runs job fairs etc........

There are still 1,000+ guys to transition over from AirTran. I doubt there will be any pilot hiring at SWA until mid-2015.

Contrary the above statement, there is a persistent rumor around the mothership that there will be organic hiring in 2014 at SWA. Just a rumor...don't know the how or why.

The SWA recruiter at OBAP said there could be a chance they will be hiring in July 2014.

Hiring in mid 2014? Maybe to put folks in a pool for training in late 2015. Seems to me that the assimilation of AirTran pilots will be taking up all the sim time well into 2015. Perhaps the goal is to hire as many pilots as possible before the pilot shortage hits, even if they have to "swim" in the pool for an extended period of time. Hiring would be a good thing, but I just don't see the need to do so at the present time. SWA has to waterboard all the Trannies with Koolaid first.

The long term pool system is, at least in my understanding, a thing of the past. The last airtran guy I met seemed quite happy with his new employer. No waterboarding required.
