Well, I'm not meaning to be argumentative, but I think SkyWest, Compass, and Endeavor are all hiring for attrition only. I'm not aware of any growth at those companies.
SkyWest is growing by 40 airplanes this spring, until we figure out the rest of our planes coming off contract. The 175s are growth

Thanks for the reply. I thought SkyWest was on the docket for an net loss in airframes. My misunderstanding. Thanks again.

I have a friend that just finished training at Skywest. Nobody from his class got MSP, not sure when he's going to get it. Compass is currently putting all new hires in LAX.

That being said, working for Skywest or Compass is probably the way to go, regional wise, and is worth the commute.

Where did the new hires from your friend's SkyWest class end up?

Compass is having new vacancy bids every 5 days and new hires are getting MSP by the 2nd bid once on property. So what? 2 weeks? They are not even back from the home study at that point.

Would it be safe to assume someone with an early February orientation would see the same thing? How long for DTW with Compass?

Yes, these will continue for a while. Not sure on DTW, not as easy as LAX or MSP but I don't see why you couldn't get it before training is done.

I would be hesitant about DTW for compass. Most of the recent flying is shifting westward and there are very few departures out of Dtw right now. Obviously that could change, but rumors are that delta wanted compass exclusively on the west coast. The CP had to cut a deal with them to let compass keep 1/2 the flying out of MSP due to the fact that most of the crew members live there, and the company would have an operational nightmare on their hands if they were to close Msp. Dtw on the other hand is a little bit more vulnerable. I'd hate to see it because I have a lot of friends there, but that's the latest.

MSP is the most junior base at Skywest. I know I work there. Recently ORD has been the junior base, but the most junior people are still in MSP. We do a new base bid every month. At most I bet you get MSP by the time you finish IOE. Also if you want to go to Skywest the are holding job fairs this month. I recommend attending.

If you want to fly and hold a line before you're applying elsewhere - Compass. If you want to get paid 75 hours for sitting at home on reserve - SkyWest.

SkyWest is adding 40 jets, but the -200's aren't hanging around for that long to make it a viable decision to go there and expect an upgrade in under 7 years.
