So does that mean that if somebody went to CAL and then wanted to move on to UPS/SW/FX, ect it would be a black mark because they have alot scabs?

No, not unless you were a scab.

Connie signed a deal for 5 more a/c of which 2 are for parts. Due to this and lots of people leaving for brown and purple among others, as well as recalls for the furloughed guys, there will be a lot of openings in the future. No there is not a blacklist for being here, but yes the pay sucks and management really does not want to sign a new contract. You will gain heavy international time and the top dogs seem to like this. Treat it as a training ground for better places and it will be ok.
Ups first year hourly is lower, however 2nd year pay beats a 12 year captain at Connieworld.

Thats the point I was trying to get to the original poster. Just because some "guys in his unit" said they have scabs doesn't mean that it will be a black mark on a resume. If that was case, nobody from CAL/Airtran/furloughed UAL/Atlas/Omni and whoever else would get hired anywhere. Just because you work for an airline that has scabs on property doesn't mean that you ARE a scab.

ok so i need some advice. im interviewing at kalitta on the 15th because i figure i at least need to keep my options open. ive only been at skywest since november, and i actually really enjoy it, but the commute to denver is unbearable and worse yet i commute to reserve. kalitta would be nice because i live in NJ and i could maybe pick up trips out of EWR, or so I'm told.

do i stay at skywest or do i take the kalitta job if i get it? i do the international and heavy thing with the military already, but i feel like this would be a big opportunity to pass up if they actually hired me. if i stay at skywest ill have a lot more fun socially but ill be just another RJ guy.

i actually think 17 on 13 off is cool, im single and i love the idea of a 2 wk vacation every month, but i also love hot skywest flight attendants which i know should have no bearing on the decision haha.

thoughts anyone?

If you are looking to get on with a major, this would make you unique. I think the biggest challenge in getting hired at the big boys is getting noticed. Go for it!

stuck between a rock an a hard place. it looks bad either way doesnt it. do i:

1) stay at skywest and be hated for stealing mainline flying?

or

2) go to kalitta and be hated for being way underpaid to fly heavy eqiupment? of course this is assuming theyre actually crazy enough to hire me with 1500 hours TT (still cant believe theyre interviewing me)

which is the lesser of 2 evils?

Get the most PIC time as fast as you can. Sitting in the right seat or sideways on a Whale won't help.

no plumbing at kalitta they hire PFE's. the kalitta guys i talked to told me upgrade right now is a little over 2 years is that an exaggeration? that puts upgrade time at skw and kalitta to be roughly the same...
