Training Delay Question

Great info, thanks.
Side note, I was also told in my interview that the Pathways program is not required to move up to Alaska and that anyone meeting Alaska's requirements could apply and be hired outside of the program. They even mentioned a guy who did it recently. Seems contrary to information posted here.

I figured that was the case. There's certainly nothing "special" about me so if/when I make it through training I'll get in line with everybody else while exploring other options at the same time. I know you guys are currently overstaffed on the FO side, but I hope the continued hiring means that people are leaving for their dream jobs. I'm just excited to get started and will happily take the airport reserve, or whatever least desirable schedule gets put on my plate!

Just flew a trip with a reserve captain, who got one of these "special" offers of a class date at Alaska, outside of pathways...
This guy is very solid, O-5, current aircraft commander in the guard, C-130, he's got B-737 type (GI - Bill) for SWA, who said TBNT 12 years ago and A-320 type from one of those supplemental outfits he took a chance on, but who filed BK.
I could be wrong, but just assuming that "special" has some measure of negative connotation, despite the fact that this individual is eminently more qualified than many in the pathways program, for Alaska's purposes, my "Mother Bear, protect my Captain" instinct kicks in.
BTW, this individual is half my age, but still a pleasure to fly with.

Trying to understand what "special" means, apostrophes and all.

I wasn't asked that question in my interview so I guess we'll never know.
