Horizon or Skywest as a PNW local?

Yes (for mil). That's assuming you don't get hired immediately by a top-tier major, which you probably will with 2000 mil hours.
Get the major apps in first and see what happens. If no bites by sep date, apply to QX or any regional, they'll have you in class the following monday.

Has the Paine Field base reopened? What long are the trips? Did it go senior? I am an Everett local looking to get back into regional airline flying after a many year absence. It appears Skywest has the advantage of better pay for someone with 121 experience and faster upgrade, and Seattle has gone more junior lately, but it is hard to beat the potential of being based at an airport you already live near. Seattle would be good for me but Paine Field would be better, especially since it's quicker to get from your car to the gate at a small airport. How are things going at Horizon?

Paine has re-opened and people have been getting it out of training. Trip credit is pretty similar to what you'd see out of SEA.
By the time you get here you may have to spend some time up in ANC before PAE since that base opened too and has been hard to staff.

If you would have asked 1 month ago even as a OO pilot i would say go to QX. Now with the things happening i would suggest SkyWest. The most current OO class all got SEA based. And its very jr for CA now.. Im just not sure how the Q400 going away would would effect a new hire hired today..

I appreciate the input, thank you. The other thread says Horizon is rescinding CJOs so I suppose that makes Skywest the only option for a Seattle base. Horizon must be planning to park airplanes soon then. How fast are you losing pilots?

It doesn’t so much matter how many they are losing. The fleet is going from 62 to 30-42 with the loss of the Q. They told me that it will take them at least a year to transition all of their current Q pilots to the E.
