I have an interview with them next week. I was told the only ones being interviewed have had their resumes walked in (including me). And the pilot job posting on their site is no-longer.

I'll be in the Q400 class that starts March 27th, there is a February class starting on the 21st I believe for the Q400. Not sure about the CRJs.

From what I have heard, there will likely be more class dates, but they are holding off, or were holding off to see how the age 65 rule effected them.

as of a couple weeks ago, there were less than 5 pilots scheduled for each of the Feb and Mar. Q400 classes.

In case you didn't know, they want you to apply on their website, www.horizonair.com then down to careers at the bottom.

There are four Q400 slots for SEA domicile for new hires and that’s it for the majority of the year. There will be no more hiring after this for quite some time possibly the fall/winter but that is unlikely age 65 rule has really messed things up for us at horizon the majority of attrition that was forecast was due to retirements now that is not going to happen.

Any one dreaming of the rj can forget about it too rumor is that we will be an all Q400 operator by 2009. Horizon is a great place to work but we don’t want you if you are interested in a quick upgrade to go somewhere else because it won’t happen here you will be complaining in 3 or 4 years as to why you are still an FO so do everyone a favor and go elsewhere. If you are not worried about a quick upgrade then please come work here it’s a great place with great people.

Thats great your confident, thats 90% of it.

The gouges on www.aviationinterviews.com and www.willflyforfood.cc are current and correct.

I would emphasize on the following areas:

Make sure all paperwork is correct, filled out, and that you bring two copies of everything they told you to bring.

Make sure you really understand 121 alternate regs (dep and dest) they will ask you everything related to those, know the rest regs as well. I was only asked a couple simple rest related questions.

Know descent planning.

Have examples / ideas memorized, not recited answers, for certain HR questions. If your primary job prior to this was flight instructing, expect a lot of questions related to that.

Great advantage having used a Frasca before, you are probably aware that you'll be in a Frasca 142 (I think), twin engine that performs really well.

Know the history of the company, CEO, etc.

Thats about it, o yeah, bring your flight bag w/ Jepp plates so you can look at the approaches being used after the first person comes out of the tech interview (same for everyone). A lot of this is in the gouges

Good luck! You'll do fine.

What are my chances of being able to hold PDX as a Megawhacker FO?

It's hard to tell, the class before mine all went to Seattle. They told my class that we would all be going to Seattle as well but halfway through they changed their mind and sent half of us to Portland.

Bus driver- Very well put. I couldn't have said it better myself.

I believe that PDX is the most senior in the 400.
