Horizon Dash 8 lands long ?

Does anyone know anything about a Horizon Air running off the runway in KBLI earlier this week ?

Stupid regional pilots...:p

Local News | No injuries in Horizon flight that rolled off Bellingham runway Sunday night | Seattle Times Newspaper

She said it was the last flight of the day and all the passengers were headed to Bellingham so no one missed a connecting flight.

Thank heaven!

Investigation is ongoing.

The BLI runway is one of those fun ones that rises and falls away at just the wrong places. It isn't sphincter clinching short in the Megawhacker, but we have to be mindful of keeping floating to a minimum.

Report I heard...they were wayyyy fast and landed very long...BLI is only 6700' long, so you don't really want to mess around there...

LEX isn't much longer...anybody check out the Saudi 747 coming in there not long ago? Betcha they didn't float :D

^^ Carrier landing for sure.

I know someone who had a sister on that flight. She said the pilot came on after they stopped, and he said something like, "All the guages look right, so I don't think we are on fire, or anything". Great.

And from my brother's best friend's cousin I heard . . .

I would not take a passengers word on this.

I had an incident a few years ago with faulty boots on a Navajo and really bad icing. Everyone was quick to judgement and played arm-chair quarterback with my decisions for some time. It gave me a new appreciation for 'waiting until the investigation is done' before condemning another pilot's decisions or actions.

I failed to see the humor. Maybe I am missing something?

No humor intended...but when you have skid marks the last 1000' and then you go appox 100' into the mud...that means you weren't on speed, and that you didn't touch down in the touchdown zone.

I've spent a good amount of time in the QX crew room...have alot of friends that work there...maybe even one of them was flying this flight...that, I'll never tell.
