However, I don't see the gutting of Tech Ops recently and increased pilot pushing and flying with multiple deferrals as being congruent with your theory. In fact, the opposite. I won't make any suppositions.... I just don't like what I'm seeing in maintenance or the delivery book.
It's incredibly frustrating and demoralizing to see the company pulling back while others are expanding into markets we should be beating them to. Sadly, I fear we will be late to the party in many markets and will miss the boat on some great growth opportunities.
I guess we can always add another flight to Port-au-Prince or Santiago.

This is all noise. Speculate all you want. Bottom line is, 30 plus percent of JB pilots fly 10 hr. 3 days, 80 plus percent won't get a vacation in the summer, or X-mas holiday. Scheduling controls every aspect of open time to prevent line holders from accessing trips before they assign them to reserves, reserve guys don't know if they have to commute in the night before until at least noon the day before. Many RSA's *****s have deals with scheduling, and most make a good dollar, but have to do so with low days off and sacrificing QOL. (Tunnel vision IMHO). JB will do what they have to do, but if there isn't heat on the feet, they will drag this cost advantage they have to infinity. The speculative optimism by many is pure ignorance. Your 8 percent raise was already implied to Wall Street that the pilot group over whemingly approved their 2017 payrates. Wall Street thinks JB pilots are a happy, content workgroup. I wouldn't equate that to heat on the feet of JB. IMHO, it will be a long, long road to a CBA for the pilots at JB.

I will say yes, anyone can see the (lagging) payrates and the (depressing) retirement numbers and the (deferred) airplane orders.
But what a prospective applicant can't find out from the APC airline profile and from the documents out in the public domain is the day-to-day reality of this place. The 10-hour 3-days. The numerous day sleeps in crappy hotels. The crappy hotels in general (I know of one particular regional that has better hotels/locations across the board), staying across from the BUF airport for 30 hours (unpaid) with nothing but a McDonalds within walking distance. The realities of reserve here. The impossibility of getting awarded a summer vacation week until your 10th(?) year on property. The fact that the company doesn't actually give you 13% in your 401(k) due to the profit sharing cliff. Etc etc etc. The list goes on.
This is stuff you don't find out until you're on line even if you do your due diligence (as I did). So forgive me for banging on these items because I wish I had been aware of the "gotchas" before I came here.

Ha, we've already announced MCO-PAP and the bid for more HAV. But we don't fly between our "business focus city" of BOS and DTW between the hours of 1030 and 1830 for example. That is clearly a failed market😕

Hardly compensation for a day away from home.
Other airlines have much more solid language. Our 10-hour 3-day would be 14-18 at our peers (or many regionals). If you consider a 4-8 credit hour deficit as being paid for a day in a hotel, then I can't help you.

I simply pointed out that, in your effort to educate the masses, what you had mentioned was incorrect. There's the occasional 71 hour layover in ABQ in the JFK bid pack, worth 23 hours-ish. One is, indeed, being paid on those non-flying days. Just not paid well.
