At the same time, one can only make prognostications with today's info. I am slightly disappointed that many outside of JetBlue have not noticed our revised delivery schedule including order/option deferrals and aircraft sales. Don't get me wrong: there remains significant A320’s in the pipeline, but in a new schedule.
Could this change? Almost certainly...and in either direction. We could take ALL of our orders and options and grow to 200 A320's and 200 E190's, but many of those aircraft are considered options for a reason.
I would like to hope that JetBlue will grow to a 400+ aircraft airline by 2015. However I will not base my career decisions on ‘hope.’ Rather I will look at orders currently on the books (including an optimistic assumption that options become orders) and planned retirements when estimating future seniority, both of which are quantifiable albeit subject to change.
If it is foolish to predict the future using current data, it is perhaps even more foolish to presume that somehow things will magically improve or deteriorate.
