You just don't have the courage to say otherwise. I also bet when people say stuff in the cockpit you just sit there and nod. Then come on here and whine about having to listen to "far right" opinions. Which probably are just things that were considered normal 10 years ago.
There is a middle, and it's easy to know when you're in the middle, because you can identify and dislike both extremes. If you can't identify and dislike an extreme position and/or group of senators/congressman on BOTH sides, YOU are the problem.

Being a fence sitter is not "being in the middle".
You need to look up the concept of the Overton window.
You are showing your true colors more and more.

This is inconsistant with my experience. It hasn’t happened here yet, thankfully, but at my last carrier I had multiple instances where I had CA’s go off on long, angry rants, many times despite my pleas to “please shut up, I dont want to talk about this,” and 1000% of the time they were on, you guessed it, the right/far-right side of the spectrum. And no, this wasn’t ”normal” 10 years ago.

I find people like this to be insufferable in large part because they not only think that everyone else is the problem, but that the problem needs to be corrected or eliminated. They think I need to be convinced to think like they do, meanwhile I just want them to shut up about it. For real, quit making your stupid politics that aren’t even your own original ideas such a huge part of your life. Learn to talk about travel or sports or your dog or anything else. If you tried being the least bit positive, maybe your life situation wouldn’t seem so hopelessly dire. We have a great job, the views are spectacular, quit ruining it with your “where my country gone” garbage and just let me enjoy my coffee.

What’d you hear that on a podcast 2 weeks ago and now you tramp around pretending you’re some kind of political scholar? For all the “don’t tell me what to do, I’m a free American” drek these people spout, they sure do spend an awful lot of time going around telling other people what they need to do and how they need to think.

Really? Left wing ideology taken to the extreme, is called socialism, or if authoritarian in nature Leninist Communism. Far right ideology is called Theocracy, Plutocracy, or if authoritarian in nature, Fascism.

For examples of current leftist states you can look at Cuba, Venezuela, Norway, and Finland and Sweden.

For examples of conservative countries see Hungary, Turkey, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, and Russia.

Fascism is the merger of corporations and the state. You know like big tech, big pharma, and the MSM working in lockstep with the democrat party.

I’ve never seen anything more authoritarian in this country than Mask and Vax mandates, all done by democrats. And don’t forget a vax card to eat in a restaurant (but no ID to vote). That my friend, is exercising authority.

Your definition of fascism is incorrect. I often hear it from right wingers because they don't like to hear how close they are ideologically to historic fascists.

BMW, Mercedes,Lufthansa, Mitsubishi, and Fiat were all private companies inside fascist countries. No merger took place. What does constitute fascism looks a lot like one party and it ain't the dems.

Here is a checklist. See if you notice any similarities to what Fox News broadcasts.
  1. The cult of tradition. “One has only to look at the syllabus of every fascist movement to find the major traditionalist thinkers. The Nazi gnosis was nourished by traditionalist, syncretistic, occult elements.”
  2. The rejection of modernism. “The Enlightenment, the Age of Reason, is seen as the beginning of modern depravity. In this sense Ur-Fascism can be defined as irrationalism.”
  3. The cult of action for action’s sake. “Action being beautiful in itself, it must be taken before, or without, any previous reflection. Thinking is a form of emasculation.”
  4. Disagreement is treason. “The critical spirit makes distinctions, and to distinguish is a sign of modernism. In modern culture the scientific community praises disagreement as a way to improve knowledge.”
  5. Fear of difference. “The first appeal of a fascist or prematurely fascist movement is an appeal against the intruders. Thus Ur-Fascism is racist by definition.”
  6. Appeal to social frustration. “One of the most typical features of the historical fascism was the appeal to a frustrated middle class, a class suffering from an economic crisis or feelings of political humiliation, and frightened by the pressure of lower social groups.”
  7. The obsession with a plot. “Thus at the root of the Ur-Fascist psychology there is the obsession with a plot, possibly an international one. The followers must feel besieged.”
  8. The enemy is both strong and weak. “By a continuous shifting of rhetorical focus, the enemies are at the same time too strong and too weak.”
  9. Pacifism is trafficking with the enemy. “For Ur-Fascism there is no struggle for life but, rather, life is lived for struggle.”
  10. Contempt for the weak. “Elitism is a typical aspect of any reactionary ideology.”
  11. Everybody is educated to become a hero. “In Ur-Fascist ideology, heroism is the norm. This cult of heroism is strictly linked with the cult of death.”
  12. Machismo and weaponry. “Machismo implies both disdain for women and intolerance and condemnation of nonstandard sexual habits, from chastity to homosexuality.”
  13. Selective populism. “There is in our future a TV or Internet populism, in which the emotional response of a selected group of citizens can be presented and accepted as the Voice of the People.”
  14. Ur-Fascism speaks Newspeak. “All the Nazi or Fascist schoolbooks made use of an impoverished vocabulary, and an elementary syntax, in order to limit the instruments for complex and critical reasoning.”
