It matters to some folks who are contemplating coming here, or are super-junior and looking at where the company is hiring pilots. Futures can change, but it gives you a sense of possibilities 8-10 weeks down the line as those new hires start OE and eventually start bidding.

EDIT - since there's likely going to be a supplemental bid late summer anyway, the whole thing is going to get re-shuffled, so your point stands.

It's a good way to see how many are in the class and what bases they got so I can see if my seniority went up.

Exactly why I am wondering. I'm already here... I want to see if my seniority in base is going up any. Been stagnant for a while.

I don't understood why people are concerned with relative seniority, I must be missing something here. There are so many days in a month and flights to be flown; the number of spots from the top of the list in your seat is the only thing that matters. If I still have X number of people on top of me, nothing has changed. I would also assume as we are only hiring for attrition that it will be mostly those on the bottom of the list leaving.

In your case, I think Bid Status in PVBM would be a better indicator. You can go further out to see what number in base you’ll be and if you can figure out the tables, you can see what size they want your B/E/S to be.

If you want to stagnate, this is the place to be. I was hired as exactly number 2610. Today I sill haven’t broke into the under 2000s yet, 11 years later. All movement here is at the bottom.

when I started here ~14 yrs ago, guys said we’d never have more than 2000 pilots and I should go because I’d always be junior. Now I’m 33% in the company. Things people on this board say regarding progression is mostly BS. You have to stick around anywhere in order for it to get good.

so you went from 100% seniority to about 45% in 11 years?

it doesn’t help when there isn’t any movement at the top. I’ve been sitting in my current seat at the same seniority +/- a few percent for for a few years now and I’m actually going backwards by about 15% when all the dust settles from this year.
