Good point, however GNE means 25 MILES off centerline. Remember these are the pilots that have flown the magenta line their entire life as a pilot. Getting 25 miles off course is probably not going to happen.

Unless they program the magenta line incorrectly. You can follow a bad line perfectly all day, won't turn out well.

Again very valid point, but the flight plan is programmed on the ground with the Captain, checked and double checked with the procedures we have in the FCOM. It’s understandable that routes may change mid flight, however you have two qualified pilots up front checking each other’s work. Also my experience has shown me that when a pilot is a little weak on a procedure, they will look up exactly how to do it. We could go tit for tat all day if we wanted to. But let’s not.

My dad was a PBRASAP guy, gone way too early/soon. No worries...

HDG mode doesn’t care what the magenta line says.

Not award specific, but most of the ages for the 3/9 class
