As for your second point, I actually had to deal with that occasionally. Extremely unprofessional, to say the least. Pilots of your own airline denying you j/s because of some immature grudge.

I might be misunderstanding your reply, but we could not, and did not deny jumpseats to our own pilots.

Not Scabs
Sir, you mis-understood my post. When Jumpseat Chairman at an ALPA-represented airline, I had to deal with 2-3 occasions when a pilot at my airline denied another pilot at my airline because of bad blood, or some old grudge. It had nothing to do with scabs, because we did'nt have any. It was extremely unprofessional, and I would'nt stand for it. THAT was my point.

It just points out the shortcomings of a bulletin board.

I no longer have a dog in this fight, but have witnessed first-hand the animosity from NWA folks about JB pilots. I personally had a NWA capt give me a lecture about them before I jumpseated, and at the time I worked for Indy. IMHO the notion about Union negotiating for the js has some merit. I did plenty of JB employee shuttle flights when we used to go to JFK, and almost all of those folks were great, including the FAs.

Like I said this trend will continue, despite what the expert here will admit.
Non Unions Airline jumpseat will and should go bye bye. I guess late next year at the earliest.
Maybe if the Kool-Aid drinkers would at least try to stop their companies attempt to change the rest policies without having there Pee Pee's wacked off! I doubt it becuase they have no protection that unions will give them, plus access to the jumpseat when they get one.
