Wanted to bump this thread and see who ended up bidding 190 Capt and how it’s been so far?

With the annual system bid currently open, I see a lot more movement on the 190CA side, even with the slight reduction they are forecasting. I know a handful 190CAs that are all planning to move to the Bus.

As long as we are looking at a 40k differential from 190CA->320CA there is gonna be churn. Especially with the amount of 320 upgrades available.

I’m coming up on 10 months on the line as 190CA and I’m still way out earning my 320FO position significantly.

When you count non used rsv days I’ve been home way more also.

Depends how much crap you’re willing to put up with as a junior 190CA. Living in base would make it indefinitely easier. The big unknown is how a completed Section 25.R will effect a new reserve Captain. Unfortunately we won’t be able to see it in action before the System Bid closes.

It's going to be significantly less lucrative then what you have now. Most notably because of the not being able to get premium pay for going outside your pairing footprint inside your RSV block days. That is going to save the company a lot of money. I do think there will be a lot of trips eventually going into the premium window and even RSA's but the overall amount you can make will decrease with the new reserve rules

All true. I guess I’m talking about how much it’ll effect your QOL being junior reserve with the new 25.R rules. Although you could probably argue that if you prefer junior 190CA reserve life over senior 320/FO life, making money is a much higher priority than QOL.

Do the senior 320 FOs that bid reserve in JFK get used much? When all the dust settles, the only way to make over guarantee on reserve now is RSA/VDA correct?

After tax and headaches 190 CA doesn’t look that appealing. Not compared to ultimate control and some nice trips to be had out of the biggest base with most varied flying (jfk 320).

But if QOL isn’t a factor or I see a lot of guys upgrading who have no TPIC it might be worth it.

By December (or when the last CBA work rules installment is complete) premium open time will be available. 150% above guarantee and it’s own separate pickup window in FLICA. In theory the VDA calls will greatly diminish, but the way we staff RSA’s will be as abundant as ever.

Hmmm, I think Minimums had it correct?
25.R.7.j - "A reserve may pick-up an RSA or a VDA on a day off".

No mention about opentime on days off and
25.O.11.b and c designates "Applicable time..., the company shall offer Lineholders in premium first come/ first serve" and " Lineholders in Global first come/first serve".

I know that just designates the time, but why would it specifically state " lineholders" and not just " any pilot"?

Sure wouldn't make sense for "Global" to be limited to lineholders? But this is JB or I haven't yet comprehended section 25?:D
