I'm hearing there are people getting the invite. I'll stay positive and hope all of you do the same.

The way it was explained to me during the one on ones, after applying in the January window is when we would hear something back from attending VIB.

If anyone was told something different, I’d like to hear it.

Some people get called a couple days after VIB for an interview. Sometimes it takes weeks or months (or sometimes not at all). They continue to pull apps for interviews from the last window until the new window is open (in this case January). At that point I would suggest reapplying, indicating you were at Vets In Blue 2019 (supposedly there’s a place to indicate that?). I have heard they occasionally call people who haven’t reapplied in each window, but I wouldn’t recommend it.

Back to when they could/will schedule a video interview...it all depends when they are scheduling interviews, but the pool from which they pull is the recent app window. Also, they don’t like scheduling interviews that far out. And it won’t be all the VIB guys at once. In other words, if there are 50 (arbitrary made up number) out of the 150 or however many VIB attendees there were who will eventually get interviews, not all of those interviews will happen at the same time...they are spaced out. I’d guess it’d be spread out from now thru March (or even longer in some cases).

Just keep updating/reapplying and keep the faith. It can be a long painful process (or it could be quick). For expectation management, expect long. Remember: no sense in worrying about what you can’t control (I know..the wait can be stressful, especially since it’s a giant unknown and not an immediate yes/no nor on a fixed/known timeline).

Share info and timelines here, but know that it can vary for each individual based on a number of factors, for everything from the time from VIB to video interview, video to in person interview, in person to phase 2 notification, phase 2 to phase 2 complete, and ph2 complete to class. Keep apps out everywhere you’d be happy at and good luck.

Also, another thing I was thinking is that could be true if you didn’t have an app in last window. But some guys that did have an app in last window and went to VIB are currently getting phone interview invites.

Here is usually a good place to hear of ViB call backs, IFF they are crazy enough to hang out on APC that is. (Not all do)

Also, don't set your hopes super high. I know ViB is an awesome way to get introduced to JB, and many walk away real stoked about the event, but typically only ~10% get hired from it.

I know that was the number one of the talent acq guys threw out last year, but I’m not quite sure it’s accurate. When he said it, he appeared uncertain and sounded like he just made it up. And if you think about it, with less than 150 attendees this year, only 15 would be hired a year who went to VIB. That can’t be right. One year they said they had 49 interview slots they were trying to fill solely from the VIB attendees. That was a good chunk of the attendees that year. I just don’t think they’d spend all that time, money, and effort (and that of the volunteers and paid leadership/employees working it) to hire only 15 veterans, nor would they waste the time and money of 150 applicants who could just apply and indicate veteran status anyway if they intended on hiring only a handful of them.

Also, there’s a decent percentage of the group that goes who is barely qualified for the regionals and minimally (if at all) qualified for a major. And some guys were still 1-2+ years from getting out of the military. I’d say if you were a mil guy and have competitive flight hours, which aren’t very high anymore, and at least 1k fixed wing, and 200 hours in the last year, have an application on file, and have a good one on one mini interview, you have a good shot of getting an interview, especially with as much hiring as we (and everyone else) are doing in the next couple years. And it deserves repeating, that one on one interview is important. Do at least a little prep for it. If you can’t answer some very basic, softball interview questions very well, it probably won’t go well.

Maybe hyperboy can provide some more input.
