Maybe you mean hopefully his/her 2 weeks notice have them end that job a day or 2 before beginning class here at JB. That way they still have a job if JB cancels the class a week before.

I know you feel that it is a professional courtesy to give 2 weeks notice, and some contracts even give some financial incentive to do so, but ALL the risk falls on pilot who is changing jobs and will in almost ALL cases not be welcomed back onto your old seniority list if the new airline unexpectedly cancels classes or sends you home on day 2, with or WITHOUT 2 weeks notice.
ESPECIALLY at critical times like this, when airlines are already cancelling classes and parking airplanes, the new pilot is taking a LOT of career and financial risks...
I would ABSOLUTELY keep plan B in my pocket right now, without a doubt, with 100% certainty.

I'm not telling anyone what to do, but you as the pilot changing jobs assume ALL the risk, these airlines, all of them, will NEVER consider your career or family financial well being in the decisions they make.
And that 2 weeks notice is for them, not for you in almost every case, as they won't let you back on the seniority list after 2 weeks with or without that notice.
I'm only telling you what I would do and why.
If that 2 weeks notice expires, and the new company cancels classes, you are the one with no job and no income, and it will be you who left yourself with no plan B, and will have received no real benefit for forgoing that plan B.
Not directed at you specifically and not meant to be mean in any way.

Look at what playing the nice guy did for those new-hires at United. Protect yourself and your family. Jetblue just yesterday called for a rebid for April bidding just a couple days before it closed for Captains. You don’t think they would pull a last minute change for a new-hire class too?

Exactly. Well at least plan for your last day to go up to your class day so you have something to fall back on. I suppose every company has a different definition of 2 weeks notice, but most will let you back as long as it’s within those 2 weeks, or your last stated day of employment. Reach out and speak with your chief pilot. I emailed and verified if I could come back after I turned in my 2 weeks as a just in case. This is something EVERYONE should be considering. Be responsible for yourself.

A lot of my experience and thoughts predate this latest pilot shortage era.
Some airlines MIGHT indeed take you back AFTER your 2 weeks, but I would verify that ahead of time!
On this one, I'm just trying to help and not have guys/gals stranded without a job.
