JB gives us money for uniforms. It's more than I need to buy uniforms (I take good care of my clothes; perhaps you do not), so the extra pays for my tailoring. Total cost to me? $0.00. So I call it free. You call it whatever you want.

How about you post YOUR experience, not your "friends"? I get mine done for $15 each. How much do YOU pay? Or is tailoring not needed in your case?
My tailoring is about $35/shirt and $50/pair pants. It would be much less if the items I took to the tailor were of higher quality.

By your logic, all your meals are FREE because you get a per diem. No. The per diem, like your uniform allowance, are items that were negotiated for and were weighed against other compensation items, and neither are enough to cover your actual expenses.

Tailoring at JB is not free. It is not being a Negative Nancy to state the facts, however you seem to think anything that isn't a glowing endorsement of JB or anything that corrects your factually-challenged posts is negative.

hmmmmm I think 2013?

We had the 2011 blue and different wings. At some point we got those other blue shirts that we’re supposed to not fade but apparently could easily catch fire. The dumb overcoat was an option and the leather was eventually phased out.

I don’t know they made such of a production of it before I doubt they would just be like here white shirts.

I am curious what they will do for 20 years.
hmmmmm 20 super passes to be used in 20 days?

Anything that does not come out of my pocket is free to me. Sorry if that is a concept you cannot grasp. JB pays for it, not me. I do not pay for uniforms. I do not pay for tailoring. I do not pay for jet fuel. I do not pay for hotels on overnights. All of those things are no cost to me, therefore free to me.

As for the bolded statement, both are more than enough to cover my actual expenses. Perhaps your spending habits need a review?

how long have you been here? My original shirt had all the buttons pop off within 6 months, my tie literally had the whole bottom seam come off. I’m not going to spend the money that is dedicated tobuying new uniforms on tailoring a horrendous shirt. If they want to let us only get a tent, that’s what I’m going to wear no matter how sloppy I look.... it’s their brand they are not trying to protect....

Almost two years. And as you say, I did not tailor my shirts the first year (wasn't going to PAY for it myself, as opposed to JB paying for it after year 1). But I'm still wearing the original pants and shirts, plus two more shirts I bought this year and let JB pay for the tailoring. All my ties have been good so far. Maybe I got lucky with my batch.

Good god we are in trouble at this place on our next contract.

Tailoring .... is... not ... free. At all. This is literally black and white. If there was an option after the purchase of your shirt/pants to have them tailored literally for free, as in, shirt $35 + take it to wherever you want and we will reimburse you for your tailoring cost via payroll, and it will not be deducted in anyway from your uniform account.....then yes FREE. Not allocating and budgeting your allowance to factor in tailoring costs from your OWN allotted allowance which you are able to spend as you see fit.

Jetblue will allow you to use you uniform allowance money for tailoring costs, assuming you have any left to use for tailoring. There is a stark difference between using your own uniform allowance account money and having tailoring covered for FREE from the company, for every said purchased article of clothing.

I’m sure some people are harder on their uniforms. In my experience, I’m still wearing the original issued uniform after two years. Pants are in fine shape and the shirts are ok. I’ll refresh the shirts this year. Tailoring cost me $15/shirt and the pants were $12 each. I had the shirts taken in and the sleeves hemmed, and the pants were hemmed only. One of my ties is indestructible and the other pattern falls apart after one use. I stopped wearing that pattern. The suiting jacket is in fine shape, the overcoat has hardly been worn, and the sweater is junk. However, it’s my favorite to wear due to its warmth so I deal with it.

I don’t get the *****ing about tailoring. The uniform allowance is plenty to cover it. If it isn’t, you should find a different tailor or accept that you want to spend more on “premium” tailoring. I’m sure an RSA will cover your next 5 years of tailoring.

The uniforms are the least of our problems. We should fix them if we can, but spend very little effort on it compared to the rest of our issues.
