Its a straight cash homie deal too. Like "Here is the cash, Spirit goes away, thanks." Versus the Frontier deal which has board seats, shares for current SAVE investors etc...

Interesting times

It is planned to open in June with about 80 crews, so pretty small but I wouldn’t worry. It’s not going to disappear. But those Spiritbros living in the exotic bases west of BUF might want to get ready for a move.

Frontier doesn't have deep pockets, but the company that owns them does. If they don't raise their offer, and ultimately let Spirit go to JB, the value of their Frontier holding goes down as Frontier will have a harder time competing against a combined JB+NK. But what that's worth to them I have no idea.

Maybe they do just let Spirit go without a fight, but I doubt it.

  • (Harrison Ford) "What's the problem, Patrick?"
  • (Richard Crenna) "No problem from our point of view. I feel like -- what's that word when a lot of guys are after you?"
  • (Harrison Ford) "wh0re?"
  • (Richard Crenna) "Hmm -- I was thinking more -- debutante."

Or Franke plays the long game; doesnt negotiate against himself, keeps the offer, waits to see if the US Gov'ment rejects the bid, and then he can come in and offer again for Spirit.

Yes, but why would the government decline JB but approve Frontier?

With the fewer/no restrictions and/or strings attached, this might actually happen.

How awful is your Reserve? And can you drop to Zero? And how often are you compensated in High Fives?

Sales job in the end. Because now they would have to see the merger of a larger airline vs F9NK, more east coast dominance, vs F9NK, and lose the story of "We bring the cheapest fares" that F9Nk was using. Who knows in the end.

Its just so nice to be wanted, I feel so loved. Brothers dont shake hands, brothers got to hug

Well the strategy seems pretty clear. Either win the bid and buy an airline or worst case run the price way up on your competitor.

Alaska gonna get in on this action?
