It’s significant as……..apart from our ORH-FLL route that was suspended during Covid………….JetBlue usually doesn’t “re open” markets, routes or bases once they leave. Itsa swing and a hit or a swing and a miss.
The only reason they haven’t closed EWR as a base is because due to the seniority there, a displacement bid would spawn a high volume of training events (WC told me this personally)…… and with that a huge cost obviously. A financial lesson the company learned during the closing of LGB and subsequent move to LAX.
So moral is Dont believe anyone who tells you “it’s coming back”….whatever IT is.

Lots of good info in this thread.
Is it normal for LAX to be available right after training? If you get A-220/E-190 (I'm assuming they don't do LAX flying), what does the timeline look like for being able to transition to A-320?
I have family close to LAX and I'm trying to be there to take care of them. Thank you!

As far as seat locks, as a new hire, I believe its 9 or 12 months for your first equipment transition, so with first year pay being the same across all fleets, its not a huge deal.

I'd say its feasible. It would suck but we run 3 flights a day from BOS-SFO, all mint (business class) birds, and 3-4 a day to JFK. It's definitely doable until you jump ship to United.

hilarious we are still hiring dudes from SFO. Yeah it’s def feasible. Hopefully you get to UAL before IOE though and you won’t have to deal with it. But there’s also a good chance you can get LAX on your drop.

i did it for nearly 7 years. It’s fine, but not something you’ll want for the rest of your days. It was worth it I should also say.

This is an East Coast airline. Last thing I would do is come to JB if I lived in SFO. United, AA, Alaska, Hawiian, but not JB. Trans-con commute while you wait for LAX award will be brutal on the body. Then once you're awarded LAX, you'll be stuck with the worst pairings in the system. Lot's of redeyes.
