It also benefits upgrades, as many of our NK guys will bid another base to secure a class date and are often able to bid back to their preferred base before being released to the line. Obviously this depends on the seniority of the base they are targeting.

Put a seat lock on types and a shorter one on SQ and let the monthly shuffle move people where they want to be

2023

5-6 Mint A321s going to LAX with 5 preferential gates per the latest company memo. Net of 23 FO /3 CA (base trades not included) open for next year.

Strange way to put it, planes flow through the system and are not “based” in any particular focus city unless they are referring to the number of daily “RON”ing Mint aircraft.

Hawaii flying maybe? Interesting way to put it.

So are they going to do a supplemental bid for those 26 seats after they run the Annual bid?

Someone asked about it during the last zoom call and the network planning guy said it’s for more transcons out of LAX. Hawaii planned for 2024 when they get more Mint 321s.

That seems like mass chaos with unlimited upgrade/aircraft change training events.

NWA ran bids every month, and they had all kinds of equipment, bases, statuses and line types. Plus they had TDY positions to boot.

The 26 seats is part of the annual bid. We may or may not add more seats in LAX in the supp bid. Stay tuned. I’ll try to keep you posted.

How long is reserve out of LAX typically for the 320? And I'm reading for that junior line holders, it's a lot of red eyes?

Thanks in advance.

A lot of redeyes doesn't even touch it. The redeyes were a HUGE part in why I retired at 16 years with JB; 55 years old my body and mental state just couldn't handle the trips anymore.

One of my trips was:

1159 pm sign in at LAX - redeye to JFK.

Daysleep in JFK Hilton, leave JFK around midnight down to STI.

Daysleep in STI at a noisy hotel, leave STI at 1 a.m. redeye to JFK.

Daysleep again at JFK Hilton, leave JFK 9pm back to LAX, scheduled arrival 1130 pm.

We were late on nearly every flight. Arrived at LAX on the last night just before 3 a.m. My drive home was one of the most dangerous things I think I've done in years. I should have been smart enough to sleep in my car for a few hours.

That trip was NOT out of the ordinary. With the move from LGB to LAX, JB effectively killed almost all of the last of their intra-west coast flying. The entire focus is on "bringing people from the east coast out west, then flying them home later."

As for reserve, at 16 years seniority I was bidding 86% in the left seat. As posted by someone else, the line holders are from Jan '08. FO lineholders I am hearing from friends are almost a year; Dec 2021.
