Nothing is guaranteed, but I do believe 100% this merger already has back channel approval. Details will be worked out, posturing will commence, but ultimately it will happen.

“We also remain competitors until we receive government approval, a process which is already underway, and close.”

Reading comprehension tells me to take out the words between the commas and reread the sentence.

We also remain competitors until we receive government approval and close.

There is your answer. Until we close the deal.

The dissolution of the NEA will be the concession to make this deal happen. Win/win for company and government.

It doesn't work that way, there aren't these kinds of things happening.

That court case is in its final arguments. It will be decided in the courts.
I'm assuming that it will continue in some fashion with appeals.

Not sure why I'm feeding this massive troll, but have heard the NEA isn't as important to Blue anymore.

At this point it only makes sense for them to choose/lean more towards the acquisition of NK over the NEA. The NEA sucked resources from MCO and FLL, pretty much temporarily handicapping us from growth in FL just to used AA slots in the N.E (which would be taken away whenever the NEA sunsets, so temporary). Meanwhile NK has the massive resources (plane, crew, property, order book etc.) we would need to grow significantly and be a more stable competitor for years and years to come.

RH doesn't strike me as being so crazy to choose NEA over the merger if he can't get both.

As they said in the pocket sessions (repeatedly) for the reasons why we can't expand as we would like, we have more opportunities than we have resources. Especially since Airbus is all types of delayed with our orders.

In court and under oath they said nea was important and necessary, it's not "unimportant" to them. As I said before the arguments are wrapping up. It will be decided in court sperate from the merger.
This is really bad logic. In you are in a legal proceeding with findings of fact and conclusions of law there are certain standards you must meet and that fact might be determinative to a legal conclusion therefore it would be legal malpractice to not lay the foundation through a witness that such action is important and necessary… without it you would likely not meet the legal standard they must argue and billing their client 2-3k per hour for trial time. But just because something is said to meet a legal standard does not make it detrimental to the internal corporate strategy of an entity….

And you're sounding a lot like a guy from another forum that proclaimed definitively that JB had a ZERO percent chance of getting NK.
