Please understand ‘the 500’ won’t be going to JetBlue. They’ll be going to the competition. They need a purchase to guarantee staffing for growth. Additionally, ‘buying assets in bankruptcy” will also include competition for said assets. This has been stated over and over from the beginning.

Essentially, JetBlue would position itself as Spirit’s main creditor (hopefully for something less than 3.8 bil), by guaranteeing all of its debts, lease payments, etc.. Then JB would be in the drivers seat on how the yard sale is conducted.
I would be shocked if this isn’t something being discussed as a plan B: maybe JB isn’t that savage, but if the government is going to use the court system the way they have, there are other avenues to getting “the stuff” out of Spirit.
