Also here is a quote from Tim Dunn, an airline analyst.
"Let’s be clear that this “study” is nothing more than B6 hoping to find a merger partner now to avoid a trip through chapter 11 which would wipe out what little equity is left in the company.
B6 has over $7 billion in net debt; there isn’t a single airline that is willing to take on that debt to gain annual revenues that are that much higher.
As much as some want to believe otherwise, there is very little appetite and a lot of opposition to further consolidation in the US airline industry and there is certain to be all kinds of legal and regulatory machinations for any proposal involving B6.
The most likely outcome is that B6 ends up in chapter 11 and then, maybe, someone could take an even smaller B6 than today whole – but the industry will have had several years to better compete in B6 markets."

Ask your management if its true. If its not they will openly deny it. Anything else I'd be highly skeptical.

Sure I’ll ask Tim Delta Dunn. I’m sure you know he is a Delta fan. The last thing he wants is united in Delta’s hubs. JetBlue is easy for Delta to kick around United not so much. I mean his comment in live and lets fly really hits home
You should also tell him about what you said in the SWA thread.
“United management said reconfiguring their fleet to match United would not be possible because our seat suppliers can barely handle our current fleet upgrades as well as new planes.”

As for the rest you forgot what you said in the SWA thread. This won’t happen because…..

You can believe whatever you want, but here we are and United hasn't offered to buy Jetblue still and if they were going to, they would not have spent a bunch of time engineering a partnership. They would have just pulled the trigger. Kirby doesn't beat around the bush.

They literally said that. We don't have enough capacity with having to configure 250 planes in the next 2 years plus our existing planes and then however many planes Jetblue has.

But I do agree why spend time on a partnership.

Put this merger stuff to rest. This is us now publicly stating if anyone wants to put in an offer we are all ears.
I don’t think it’s an Airline but some kind of activist investor or VC Firm like SWA had with Elliott Management. The real bean counters will cut the fat or just augment us 6 legs up and down the east coast to save on hotels (for those that want to laugh at us more, yes we are now augmenting Transatlantic and Carribean flying).

Im just saying you should help him out with the reasons it won’t happen.

I hope they get something good. Not that I’ve flown jetblue many times but the few times I’ve had they were great or at least better than what you got from legacy domestic flying. It’s hard to believe they can’t make it with their product.

While I'm not suggesting any tie up with another carrier for B6 will happen, have you seen the latest interior of JB and compare it to United?
Other than some small details like the even more logo on headrests, orange trim etc on JB, there are quite some similarities, especially after JB adds domestic first.
It is not out of the realm of possibilities that UAL (if they decide to buy) keep the interior in JB until the capacity to change it(maybe 3 years from now, since the merger would take a while to consummate) becomes available.
