Are internal recommendations a requirement to get an interview at JB? Is jet time a requirement and if so does prop jet count or does it have to be fan jet?

What kind of backgrounds are getting looks over there? Any regional FOs getting a call? Upgrade is nowhere in sight for me.
I live in BOS and would love love love to get on. Right now there are relatively few carriers hiring en masse, so jetblue can take a higher percentage of pilots with lots of PIC turbojet, but as things go along they will work their way down to guys with SIC only, or turboprop only time. I was a no PIC, no internal rec, RJ FO when I got the call and there were a bunch of others like me. Good luck. |

Times ranged from just over 3000 tt - 10000tt. Majority were regional fo s at their airline for at least a year. Some overseas citation guys and a few retiring military guys with no 121 exp. All great people btw. Not sure of the breakdown in phase 2. Go for it- ya never know. They really want some internal reqs and be relaxed in the 2 on 1 discussions. Im sure the interview populations varied- just what I observed.

I've been applying for over 3 years in every app window. When I click to review my application, I have application dates listed back to 2010 when I first started applying and I've kept my app up-to-date ever since. I have an internal rec, but I've been told that even current employees don't have much pull anymore to help get someone an interview and they won't even look at recs until the actual interview. I guess I'll just keep updating and hoping to catch them at a job fair one of these days maybe to get some face time.

I had about 4800 TT when I interviewed with about 2200 TPIC. Regional 121 tim from years back and currently working at a fractional. 109 whole hours of jet time. So, they will call guys from outside the airlines and with little to no jet time. There were a couple of folks there with neither jet nor 121 time.
Also, I may be wrong in my opinion, but I would suggest that an airline that has a bridge program with Cape Air is not necessarily putting all its focus on jet or 121 time. I felt during the interview they were more concerned with how I conduct myself as a person and as a professional in my duties. I had two internals but don;t know if that helped. Applying for three years before I got the interview. I did attend the Vets in Blue event in Novemebr so that may have helped. |
I worked at cape for a bit. Hoping that will get me a look!
