I finally got the call for a 12 April interview. Applied during the August window. Attended Vets in Blue in November. Called me back in January for an interview but couldn't make it as I was in Afghanistan on an Army contract. I'm honored to have gotten the call and am excited about the opportunity! Best of luck to all in this endeavor...

How do you get in to this conference? I've read that you have to have an invite and that you just get invited from having military in your profile. But if the app window is not open, what profile has military in it? My regular user profile only has hours, no mention of military? Thoughts?

Last year there was a web page setup for the conference and you could just click to say that you're interested and answer a few basic questions and the invite followed shortly thereafter. I missed the one last fall, so the process may have changed. If you've never been to ViB and you sign up early, I'd say you're chances of getting an invite are close to 100%.
Disagree with the last part here....I'd say maybe you have a 50% chance at MOST of getting an interview. I've been to two...did well and had great conversations and haven't heard anything. Very competitive record and I got calls elsewhere. I also know plenty of people who did not get an interview and went. Just throwing it out there if you plan on dishing out tons of money to get there. It will definitely increase your chances but by no means is it a sure thing.

Priority for ViB attendees goes to vets that have not attended before. If there's still open slots after that, some others will be invited as well. Was a great event for a newby. Over 200 attendees were there and they saved 50 interview slots from selected Vets in Blue attendees. So it's well worth it and everyone got 10 minute at the end with a recruiter to pitch yourself. With over 3000 applicants every time they open the hiring window, it's very competitive. Was well worth the expense for me to attend and a great overall experience.
