If you are worried about reserve times I wouldn't bid the bus...currently over a year I believe in JFK and worse in Bos. Guys on the 190 are getting a line within a month or two.
Not to mention first year pay is basically regional FO pay. Works out well when you are based and live in the most expensive city in the country for cost of living.

Have you taken a look at Hawaiian's first year pay and Honolulu's cost of living? Not to take away from your point, just an observation. Industry-wide it needs to be better, much better.

It will depend on the timing- Be careful predicting which airplane holds a line first- In Nov 2013, I was off reserve after 2 months while the new BOS 190 guys did close to a year.
Dont bid equipment thinking you know anything about movement- no one does imho.

The E190 (JFK, BOS and MCO) has the quickest seniority progression within a base/equip bid status. You'll be 50% BOS/JFK E190 FO much much faster than 50% BOS/JFK/MCO A320 FO.

In my opinion, the ONLY people who should be bidding A320 on Day 1 of class are those who live in FLL or LGB and will transfer bases ASAP. If you plan on commuting or living near JFK or BOS then do yourself a favor and bid the 190. Junior Airbus reserve is redeye hell.
Flyby- I usually agree with your take and it could work out like that, but the 320 has better QOL once you have a line and the growth is on the 320 side even with guys moving seats. Its a crap shoot and changes with the wind.

2 years ago everyone said bid the bus, it was 3-4 months to a line while the e90 guys were reserve for more then a year. Now that so many have gone to the e90, it'll probably be the busses turn to have some quick seniority as the e90 guys will be mostly seat locked. Remember, no growth on the e90 fleet and 20+ busses coming in the next 18 months. The September bid should be interesting as I wouldn't be surprised if we have a lot of upgrades after dealing with this fubar staffing summer.

Over half of the classes right now are getting the E190. So that means in 2 years you'll have a lot of people bidding to the bus. Yes, the growth is on the bus. But growth on the 190 side comes from people bidding off of it onto the bus and that has been pretty constant.

I've got a buddy who I'm trying to get hired with about that experience level. The mgr of pilot recruitment told me he needed to be up around 4500 hours.

That being said, there are guys with your experience in class, so keep trying. Go to OBAP.

Thanks. That's good to know. I wish I had the days off to go to obap. The struggle of only having a few days off per month.
