Vacation question. I transferred bases in Dec and as a result my 2021 vacation was voided. The only week with availability in 2021 is the week I’m scheduled for training. So I have 2 weeks af vacation but the inability to schedule them. I looked through the contact and it doesn’t address this. I contacted the CPO - twice - and never got a response. If I can’t schedule vacation does it get paid out at the end of the year?

I’m confused how a base transfer would void your two vacation awards. Did you bid your two vacations back in October? Either way, I’d fill out a PDR to start the process.

24.N.5
Vacations scheduled after the effective date of a Base trade will be dropped into Open Time when the trade is awarded .

7.B.4.h.v is similar - if you have excess VPTO for a partial week you can opt to be paid out at the end of the year.

I’ll see if I can find something else in there. But VPTO is yours. They can’t take it. I imagine it’s either paid out at the end of the year or possibly transferred to your PTO bank.

That what I inferred as well. I got crummy weeks to begin with at the beginning of the year. Not my choice. The last round of shuffling gave me better seniority in BOS so I transferred from JFK. And of course, there’s zero weeks available to select.

Keep on the lookout because the same thing might happen to someone else, and their vacation will be dropped on the Open Time, in your newer Base/Seat. I believe you can create a Flica Alert to be notified of such event.

Can you drop a vacation on top of a trip already assigned? If so, how is that paid? I know if you pick up over a vacation it’s above but what about the other way around? Is it even possible?

Basing this off nothing but I want to say no. If you could, you could stack trips over a 7-14 day period then drop vacation over all those trips and then pick up on top of all those days.

No. Vacation is locked once the planning month starts. So on Feb. 1 you can’t add or drop any vacations for April (CBA 7.B.4.k.iii)
