Me too. I hate lanyards but wear 1 now. The minute we get a contract I go back to badge reel.

I have the reel attached to my ALPA lanyard. Works great.

Add me to the list of previous lanyard haters. Never wore one before. But the union asked us to wear it and even took the time to send out thousands to our home address. There's really no good excuse not to wear it. I hate to admit it but the thing is growing on me. I was a clip on epaulet guy as well but the convenience of the lanyard at KCM is nice.

Totally agree.
I hate the thing, I hate all lanyards( just me) but they asked ONE THING so that's all there is to it.

I did this too. But I popped that plastic thing off and got a stitch kit from the hotel and sewed up the bottom. Reel hooked on nicely.

I've flown with a couple of CAs recently that don't wear their lanyards because they have not joined the union and subsequently are not paying dues. Some of the others are upset with ALPA in general. Just curious, how many are still holding out?

Holding out for what. Once there is a contract they will have no other choice to pay or get fired.

Hypothetical scenario one proposed - I'm not a lawyer so I don't know the repercussions. It will take a couple years to get a contract. If a pilot is 62-63 he (or she) avoids ALPA, skips dues, then retires. Since said pilot is no longer flying he feels (again, I don't know how correct this is) ALPA can't get the back dues. I guess ALPA could sue and get a judgement but it's my understanding retirement income can't be garnished in this situation. Legal scholars, any merit in this thinking?

Another proposed he's going to quit as soon as the contract gets signed (and live off other passive income streams) under the same theory.

Two more options: resign or retire from US based 121 flying.
