I’m middle of the ground in this seniority list and have been expecting a downgrade 10/1.

Based on this MEC and alpa doing this for the entire pilot group, I am more than happy to have hope that they did what was in the best interest of the pilot group as a whole. The MEC and all of alpa have been full on about the contract and about keeping it. If it’s a matter of capping open time? Or maybe putting RSV to 70 hours with an extra day off? I’m sure there are a million reasons why they want to keep this hush hush. The company and alpa have made it clear that these notes are leaked almost immediately to the press, maybe this is more of a tactic against the other airlines versus screwing the pilot group.

Im not going to be pessimistic about yesterday’s email. For those who cannot live on 70 hours at their current rate, that sucks and if you can’t live further below that for 6-12 months while the world slowly comes to an end, that sucks even more. I view this email that alpa sent as good news, what ever the details are, I am sure are much better than 850$ (Or whatever it is where you’re based) a week for unemployment, no 401k contributions, and having to pay for cobra. Could be worse mate, could have told half of us to pound sand and take our $250 voucher to AVIS with us.
I don’t want you to take this wrong.

but after all that word vomit... what exactly was your point?

my point was to look beyond what was written, or not and look at what may actually be happening.

My point was, like I said, maybe like 6 people total out of 23k know what’s going on. I’m not sure I follow what you’re saying when you say “look beyond what was written, or not and look at what maybe actually happening”

I don’t want you to take this the wrong way.

But are you implying that there is a conspiracy between management and ALPA to do something to the pilot group or the airline? I’m not sure that I get that out of the ALPA blast. To me is seems like JetBlue is throwing a Hail Mary to clean up AAL, DAL and UAL’s flying next summer.

Im not sure why we are looking beyond what was written, it seems pretty cut and dry based on the email.

We cannot give the details because we have a NDA. We have snap backs in place. We didn’t take a hourly pay cut, kept the integrity of the CBA and didn’t make significant changes to work rules. Seems hard to justify looking beyond that to really see what’s going on? They just kept 4000 pilots with a paycheck until May 2021. Hard for me to think that something fishy is going on. But hey maybe JetBlue eats it before May, then honestly who cares. Until then.....

I think CCH might be alluding to possible merger/acquisition in JB’s future?? I have a strange/gut feeling something like that may be in our future. I hope I’m wrong.

I highly doubt it. Right now the airlines are just trying to survive. Unless there was a massive outside investment, it’s unlikely airlines would go through that, as I imagine it is very expensive/logistically challenging and things are already unstable enough.

JB went from approaching ALPA for furloughs/displacements to keeping the seniority list intact. A complete reversal. Even if they put all of us on 50 hour VIL lines they could save more money (which they have been hammering into our heads) by furloughing with all the associated employment costs. I think there's something else going on behind the scenes. If I'm wrong, which I hope, I'll buy beers for the next 20+ years

SWA is the only carrier in a position right now to buy anyone. 14 billion market cap compared to our 3 billion makes an easy buffet dinner for whoever they pretty much want outside the legacies.

If JB is doing this out of the goodness of their hearts I'll go back to being a 100% blue juicer but just trying to be factually informed right now. In any case Happy July 4th weekend. Drink some beers.

Jetblue has mentioned they think 2021 will be a heavy travel year for VFR. I’m thinking with pull back from other airlines, they want to be in position to spool up to meet the demand or target new routes from other airlines pulling back if that scenario plays out. The May 1st date, buys them a potential Winter vaccine and forward looking bookings from March on, which is when bookings usually pick up. I could be way off but I’m in the, it’s way too soon for mergers camp. I’m thinking first merger is in 2022, which two airlines...I have no idea.
