The local FSDO approved it. The FAA didn't know what was going on. And when they found out, B6 was censured for carrying out 'experiments' with revenue pax onboard.
Does the G in Gman stand for Goebbels? You sure pump out enough half-truth propaganda to make the Nazi Minister of Information proud.

Im sorry that you think that a airline less then 10 years old should be paying their pilots as much as SW, Alaska, UA, AA, Delta, NWA, Continental....
Im preety sure even your oh so wonderful airline didnt start out as an amazing high paying place to work.
All start ups have to start like this, its how they get their foot in the door.... and eventualy they get up there to!
LOOK AT SOUTHWEST!!! their employees had to make sacrifices to fight the big dogs in the beggining.... and now look at where they are!

The local FSDO approved a temporary exemption that permitted the use of Part 121 supplemental (subpart S) rules during the test for domestic >8 hour operations. FWIW, subpart S allows >8 hours of flight time if the crew is augmented with more than 2 pilots.
So far so good...
However, JetBlue pilots remained in their seats for greater than 8 hours during the test which is a clear violation of Part 121 supplemental rules. Even while allowing more than 8 hours of flight time aloft, supplemental rules still prohibit "flight deck duty" for greater than 8 hours. Some JetBlue crews flew complete transcon turns with the "safety" pilot in the jumpseat. Oops...
What the FAA approved and what JetBlue actually operated were two different things.
When the story broke, the FAA ran for cover for:
1) even granting the exemption for domestic operations in the first place
-and-
2) not providing proper oversight to what JetBlue was actually doing.
Due to the culpability by both parties, the FAA and JetBlue have a mutual vested interest in pretending the entire event never occurred.

courage or coward
Mr. V,
My question to you is what is your name and airline you fly for. Are you a person of courage or are you a coward? Its time to back up what comes out of that mouth of yours. Reveal or not to reveal (couragious or coward).
Your turn!

Why does it mean so much to you? Considering the anonymity of the Internet, I could claim to be anyone working for any airline and you wouldn't know the difference.
Besides, my opinions are mine alone. They do not reflect the policy of any particular airline or Union group.
If you don't like reading them, put me on ignore. Of course, that's kind of like burying your head in the sand, because reality marches on with or without you. For some, ignorance is bliss.
I wish you much happiness.
