Hypothetically, if I'm the first nonrev/first S4 checked in, and a senior captain S4 is the 3rd S4 to check in, and the gate agent (his buddy from the length of his commute out of this particular outstation) gives him the even more space window (only one left) and me the even less space window (she cleared me first, but into a worse seat), is that a violation of our rules? I watched it go down, and she seemed to hurriedly switch screens so I wouldn't see his seat and gave off that fishy smell, but I didn't push it. I just got done fighting with my wife and I wasn't in the mood to get into another one, nor cause any issues on my future commutes, but I feel like I got stiffed, as petty as it is. A redeye with work the next day is easier with more space. I know seniority rules for the jumpseat, but I didn't think it did for nonreving.

this kind of thing happens all the time. i would seriously doubt there are rules against it. they'll clear people out of order, usually their flight attendant or ao buddies, as long as everyone is getting seats. it happened to me 2 days ago. i was the only s4w, and i got a middle seat right next to an s4x that was below me on the check in page. kind of hard to hide that one. but she was small and so was the girl in the window seat, so i had plenty of room. but i also knew i couldn't complain about it.

It's been worse since the new one time push has started.

negative. they clear people out of order all the time. I wasn't explicit enough in my above example. they cleared the s4x below me first. I was watching the list and noticed, so I went up and asked and they said "oh yeah, here you go" and it was the middle seat right next to the aisle seat of the s4x. I got on, I got to work, not the end of the world, but not really the way it "should" work, in my opinion.

Unfortunately the only requirement is that priority dictates who gets on the aircraft, not what seat they get.
They can clear out of order if they know everybody is getting on. It sounds like your experience is different, but the only time I've seen it personally is if they are trying to keep a party together (usually a family), otherwise it seems they usually give out EMS seats in order.
If you commute out of that city regularly I wouldn't pursue it because 1) there is no written policy, and 2) I wouldn't want to be "that guy" in the agent's eyes in my home city.

Ya I see it all the time at B6 however what Crash312 said. As long as I got on I can really care less as I am a normal commuter.
If I was traveling for vacation or something with a gf or something...I might say something if I knew I was number one on the list.
Like hey can you get us together or exit row.
