Kalitta Air now accepting FO applications

Good Lord, sign me up! Can I wear boots and my Indiana Jones hat? (Can I get a whip thru TSA?)
But seriously, that should be on top of a recruitment poster!
I'd love to hear from K4 folks that have young kids at home. There are lots of schedules out here in the charter world of 8/6, 12/10, and even 15/13. For some reason, 17/13 seems like it's a stretch to far with young kids at home. Is it just mental, or is there a big difference between 15 and 17 days from home?
Thanks for all the info!

As for QoL I'm debating going to the 76 when my upgrade number gets called and moving to CVG. This will allow me to spend a lot of time with the family. I'd be losing pay not being on the 74 but I'd make up for it in QoL and schedule. Just a food for thought if you're willing to move.

I've been doing this for a little under a year and a half. I have an almost 4yr old daughter at home. It's tough. I missed her first soccer game last rotation and that was a real bummer. However, the job gives me the ability to spend two solid weeks at home with her every month. I don't commute, I get to see the world, and they pay us well. I'm happy here and not planning on leaving unless one of the big three or fedex/ups call. And honestly that's just due to K4 not having a retirement program at the potential instability of ACMI. I'm enjoying the ride and if my number doesn't get punched at the "Big 5" I'm happy to hang my hat here and call it home.

The 76 works the same 16 days on, but you get home during a rotation? That would be a good plan if one wanted to live in CVG. I think we could hack Ohio.

Interview call
I finally got a call for an interview!
For those wondering:
Retired Army
8K total time, mostly King Air 200/300
5K Turboprop PIC
500 pt121 RJ
I have applied several times and updated once or twice with email to HR before getting hired at a regional last year.
Applied mid 2016, a month ago and a few days ago. Both the 76 and 74 position. Not sure what triggered the call as I was asked if I was still interested in Kalitta, but that may be a standard question and not indicative of which app they were looking at. There are definitely some issues with the ADP application process as one of them had a dropdown box for aircraft flown that didn't have anything listed in it. The questions about time, Jet, aircraft weight, etc could use some tuning as well.
I did write in one box that I was a military trained pilot.
I was called by ACP, no initial email, and asked a few questions about why K4, could I do the schedule, DUIs and training failures, etc. Told to contact HR to schedule interview. First available that I could make is in June.
Anyone that can share some recent interview experience, please do so. I'm about go to Aviation Interviews, but I know the process is recently changed.
Looking forward to the opportunity!

I was just called for an interview (see above) and had a few questions I didn't see answers to in the last thousand or so posts:
How do they work the 14 days of vacation into a 16 day block? Can you drop the other two days, or are the two weeks split and still have to work nine days of the rotation?
I saw the discussion on "approved" shirts. I have read some of the (much) older posts about pajamas and sweats, so I guess this, like a lot of other things have changed at K4. What is the basic issue or required buy on uniforms, and what is allowed/required for jackets?
Flight bags or is backpack allowed? Headsets provided, what type is used?
I know YIP is domicile and recurrent travel you must get to on your own. What about initial training? On our own or provided ticket? What do guys do for transport in and around the training center and for food?
When can you start contributing to 401k? Is there a percentage limit the employee can contribute? I know the match is limited.
I read 50% pay for deadheads. Do you have to be in uniform for DH? Are there any other ways to credit more than you actually fly?
Is checking a bag on commute or DH ever an issue? As in you get rerouted at a connection and your checked bag doesn't make the switch.
Are the CBTs (or anything else) provided prior to get started on eating the whale?
I know Atlas had a whole section of support personnel on a flight when they were our lift on a deployment. What besides augmented flight crew does K4 fly with?
Thanks.
Looking forward to the opportunity.

2. Crew Outfitters is the authorized uniform. They’ll make you buy a bunch of stuff at initial. Only authorized jackets are the leather one or the blazer. Once at top of climb most people change into their cruise pjs and get comfortable.
3. Telex 750s are in the plane. They’re adequate, but basically suck and are covered in whatever freaky germs the last 100 guys that used them have. If you’re on a budget, go on eBay and find some Telex 850s or DCs. If you can afford anything Bose is nice. Flight bag is anything you want from flight cases to backpacks to grocery bags.
4.YIP is your base, so don’t ever expect Travel to or from there unless you’re already on the road. You’ll have to get yourself there, but they’ll pay for the Holiday Inn. Travel around is either on the shuttle or a buddy that drove there.
5. 401k I believe starts at 90days just like benefits. (This could have changed, so ask HR when you get there). Only max contibution is whatever the feds allow per year depending on your age. Company match is 5% up to 10k per year.
6. Uniform is still not required for DH unless it’s on company metal. Some countries it’s easier in uniform, and some won’t let you wear it. You will also get paid 4 hours for reserve days, and sims, but most of the big money is just flying your butt off.
7. If you get a lost bag they’ll pay for you to pick up some stuff. Honestly it’ll be a huge PITA but you won’t just be out of luck.
8. No. They’ll assign all that junk when you get there.
9. We fly with a mechanic and sometimes a loadmaster. Other than that it’ll just be the flight crew and whoever is deadheading/couriers.

Changed indeed, brother Ramz...
Hope you are enjoying post K4 life.
Was talking to a few of the brethren this evening about that very thing. Somewhere along the way this became a kick ass place to work. Connie is making his legacy one plane at a time. We are now the second largest operator of 747 aircraft (behind you know who...). And, there is more to come.
Low debt. High profit. Good pay. Pretty decent schedules. NO FORCED OVERTIME (So, Giant boyz, how does that junior man thing work out for you...). No kidding home basing. No IRS hit for the airline tickets. Hmmm... We looking good yet? Okay, reality, the retirement could be better. But, with the money up front, you can make your own damn retirement. Just like us old guys who expected nothing did.
I have spent over 25 years at a job that I thought would maybe last 6 months when I signed on. It isn't even the same company. We were an "outfit". We are now truly an airline. On the cutting edge of many of the cool data driven tricks that are being driven by agencies and economics, thanks to the boss man being a gadget freak. And, while being private comes with some successorship risks, it also comes with no stockholders who want their dividends now, even at the expense of investment in the future.
Doug and Corey are poised to take the reigns when Connie surrenders. The company will continue to thrive with another generation at the helm.
Who would have thunk I am going to actually retire from this place? Certainly not me...
