I would not be surprised if mgmt comes to the Kalitta pilots to start negotiating early. As the Pilot Shortage gets worse, Kalitta's current contract will look worse and worse, and they will probably start having problems getting enough new pilots to staff the airframes desired.

How is our contract looking worse and worse? Every new contract I've seen recently in the ACMI and LCC world has been falling short of ours with exceptions to retirement. But please, I want you to be correct, we need others to get better contracts so we have more leverage for our next one.

Because AA is in Section 6, UAL and DAL are working on new contracts, etc., etc. It doesn't matter how Kalitta's contract compares with ACMI/LCC, because Kalitta is competing with DAL/FedEx/China/3M for pilots, just like every other aviation organization. The older your contract is the worse it looks in today's Pilot Shortage situation. For example FedEx's contract was about the best when it was signed, but now it is second tier.

If the Atlas/Kalitta schedule is something the family can handle I think a lot of pilots have found a home. They come here as a stop gap measure and then have decided to stay until a better offer comes along.

K4 is approx. 150 people short as of now. That is not going to change for the better anytime soon.
And Max ...Why would someone going to SWA from K4 be an "Idiot" ?
We all have different situations.
Right?

Of course that’s before accounting for the ability to sit in-base reserve. At that point the compensation per hour worked comparison with us goes parabolic.

I recently spoke with 2 pilots here on year 7 pay. They have both grossed 230,000+ so far this year and have not killed themselves doing it.
