Yeah, it takes time. Networking is key if you have a target. Sometimes you have to wait for somebody to retire (or die) to slide into the perfect gig. Good luck.
Yup and the one I've got my eye on has little to no turnover especially now. So I'm looking for similar jobs in similar surroundings. (slim pickings right now given my specific search criteria) To some it's a major step backwards. Not to me everyone has their own definition of success.

Another way to look at it. Let's say Skyhigh leaves the career because the pay sucks and he wants to be home every night. I think if one is considering following Skyhigh's example, it's fair that one should be able to ask Skyhigh was he makes and what his business is (had to ask CGdaddy three times....) I disagree that it's improper to provide that info. I mean, perhaps it's something you don't want people to know, like where you live. Myself, I don't worry about that (Spokane, WA). I guess I just look at it differently. If someone asks me what I make, it doesn't bother me to tell them.

At this thread, I'm called a liar because I won't give the details of something I'm called a braggart about?

Sorry folks. Maybe in a different forum in a different thread.
Ahh, the typical Capt response. Should we expect any less than a non-answer and an underhanded blast at Skyhigh, TM and CG? Always playing yourself off as the hero(debater) or victim for telling about your pay. Trying to play it off like your open to all and a crusader-debater is laughable dude. Anyone reading these post with an IQ knows your all about #1(ie, yourself). Hell, you straight out admitted it already. At least you where honest with that post...

Capt UPS, How about putting someone else other than yourself first for once like your fellow APC'ers and stop criticizing alternate-careers so they can find a job to put food on the table, pay the mortgage and survive?

"stop criticizing alternate-careers so they can find a job to put food on the table, pay the mortgage and survive?"

Works for me. What do you do again? And what do you make? People looking at leaving the career need to know this stuff.

"Wanna know what makes me feel better? I'm set to make north of 300K this year, and home every night. Come up with something aviation related that can match that-then you'll have some cred w/me- 'till then-"

That was Tony M's challenge....

Come on fellas. How about I came on here and said "I make 300K a year and work half the month as a pilot. Come up with something doctor related that can match that-then you'll have some cred w/me- 'till then-"...........

You think Tony M (God rest his soul) wouldn't have spoke up if I said that?

Yeah, I think he would. Then, would you disparage his character in all the mean spirited ways you have with me?

I'm just lookin' for some fairness, here, fella's.....

When someone avoids a question, there's always a reason. In your case, you're exaggerating.

You won't answer my questions about reserve.

Your rebuttal for the salary is to avoid the question by firing back at the person asking.

You never even answered if UPS has a no fly list.

Everything that makes you 'cool' (in your eyes) you love to talk about. Face it, the rest you're simply exaggerating about. I bet you hate being a cargo pilot, no F/A's, passengers or kids to show off how cool you are. You know, hand out business cards, stand in the door and let them see you as they board.

You won't answer the questions, but you know deep down you're not telling the truth. There certainly aren't many folks on this board but they know it too.

If I made $300k + a year I don't think I'd sit in front a computer every day and night to argue with other people about my job, I'd probably be out enjoying life or finding new hobbies on my time off... Or maybe I'd have a family and other people around me to spend that money with... but then again that's just me..

Funny stuff, man, keep it coming....

"I'd probably be out enjoying life or finding new hobbies on my time off..."

What's wrong with this hobby? I worked one day in the last 14 days I just worked, lots of free time. I think this is fun. But then that's just me. To each his own...

"I usually spend a lot of time on APF and FAcebook & Myspace... if I'm REALLY extremely bored I go to grouphug.us hehe"

You FLEW one day in the last 14, last I looked reserve is considered duty by the FAA. You were working.

Still waiting, how many reserve days do you work a month?

Admit it, you wish you had F/A's to show off to.

That's why I said IF I made a lot of money I'd be doing other stuff...

I'm in my 20's, it is normal for people my age to be online a lot, the older people I know are busy with their KIDS and FAMILY .. what do you get out of arguing with all the guys on this forum about how much you make and how you are CAptain America? Does that raise your testosterone levels? plz

Your attempt at baiting is laughable dude. But, I'll bite(this time for the others out there that really want to know). I'm like most APC'ers(unlike yourself), my take home salary last month was less than $1200 and I worked my ass off(think reserve). Unlike you, when I created my screenname I didn't put that I was an FO flying an RJ with my company name. I believe people care what I do and say, not who I am or what title I carry.

I'm just lookin' for some fairness, here, fella's.....
Fairness? How is it fair that you cut down those who are offering real alternatives to our fellow aviators who need jobs? Get real dude, your crying foul and its sad. You bullied those in the schoolyard and people got tired of it...

At least Tony and others talked about alternate careers to help their fellow pilots out in these tough times. What did you give? The notion of hang in there through multiple furloughs, job displacements so that someday we might have the miniscule chance of ending up a Captain at UPS making real money? That thought isn't going to help me or my fellow pilots pay our bills that came in the mail this month.

Does it make me "not cut out for this business" for trying to find another way to make a livable wage outside of aviation for me and my family? Don't bother answering that one Capt, since we know you don't understand the notion of putting loved ones first before flying...
