Still haven't answered CG's question Capt. UPS? just keep focusing on how great of a facilitator of debates you are? You claim to facilitate debate. Yet you've criticized individuals who mention alternate fields like medical and law enforcement careers when someone offers them up to those who need to put food on the table for themselves and/or their families?

Like I said, anyone reading these forums can see between the lines on your comments dude. Doesn't take a GED to see your comments are one-sided. Pretty plain to see its hypocritical to solicite fellow APC'ers to post comments on alternate fields and then criticize those alternates they post comments on.

Hope you do a better job flying than you do as a moderator on these forums. Because your technique/skill in this forum as a mod is "red-screen" worthy.

Default Perspective

It would be nice to know if 727ups has a wife and kids. (not an attack just looking for perspective) I've met way to many disenchanted airline pilots of all various positions and companies. Pay is nice for some but it appears it's all the wasted life spent in hotels & crash pads that drags a brother down.

Just a thought

Single, with one whom I call my son. I miss him during the two weeks I'm at work. The other two weeks, though, when I'm 24/7 not thinking of work, more than makes up for it. Much better than 9 to 5, 20 days a month, but that's just me.

Not everyone is cut out for the job. I put the career first in my life and certainly have no regrets. Would do it over 100 times even if I was only half as successful. It's all a personal choice. If one is finding that the need to be home every night overrides the career, then one should seek something else. If one needs to be home every night, then being a pilot is a bad career choice.

As always, complaints about the moderation at APC should be directed to the admins. That would be HSLD and Freight Dog. They would love to hear from you.

You're just never going to answer about the pay, are you? I feel pretty confident we're not getting the whole truth here.

By the way, you only work two weeks on reserve? You're on reserve and commute, so you're saying UPS only requires 14 days of reserve and you always get to work and home on the same day for your shifts? Incredible.

Or maybe a bit of an exaggeration again?

And if you won't answer about your pay, why not tell us why? What's the secret?

OK thanks for the candor. I've found that a short time at home every night/day is more valuable then long stretches of work/days off. However, everyone has their preferences.

What I'm really looking for is some type of a day job as a pilot in a turbine where I can see the fam/mtns daily and have a life. If I don't find that I will probably join CG in a few more years, as I have other skills.

Afterall I can't take a load of cash with me to the grave, but seeing the kiddies every christmas etc. well that's priceless.

You still don't get it do you??? The statement regarding you being a moderator is in regards to the fact you stated you want to debate but you criticize more than you debate in this forum. You still haven't answered CG's question and you probably never will. Hell you don't even have to if you want because its a free society. But, don't claim your all for free speech and debating when you ignore request for clarification on statements you've made.

If one is finding that the need to be home every night overrides the career, then one should seek something else.
Thats what some people are trying to do in this forum. APC'ers are posting alternate career choices to help fellow aviators out to help them survive. Some are interested in finding another career outside aviation for whatever reason(family, furlough, survival, etc.). But your un-abashed criticism of other fields sure is contradictory to your support of dicussion.

And I'm sure most of us do appreciate your candor about being single and putting your flying career first in your life. But I'm sure most of us figured that one out a looooong time ago...

Some 135 freight operators have that sort of deal. I have a buddy at Amflight that's doing it on the B99. Also, a local air ambulance outfit might fit the bill where you're on call but maybe don't fly that much. You'd be lucky to make 40K, though. But like you say, money isn't everything. To each his own.

"You're just never going to answer about the pay, are you?"

I don't know, man. You guys yell at me for talking about my pay and then yell at me for not talking about my pay. Pretty funny stuff....

"You're on reserve and commute...."

Depends on what type of reserve line you have, but it is possible to commute in and out on a work day. The type of line I bid, I do lose an evening to the commute. On the other end, though, I can be home for a good half the day on my last day. Best part of the story is I'm about to finish two weeks on and I only flew to Dallas and back. I average 3 to 4 days every two weeks on. Would be a sweet deal if a guy lived in SoCal. Thanks for asking....

As with me don't write anything that you are not prepared to back up, support or retract. I just think that they want you to support your claim or you could be considered to be flame baiting.

SkyHigh

P.S. Is the "one" who you consider to be "a son" a person or pet? Just curious. Learning more about you helps me to know you better.
